When plugged in, track info and album art will display. But if you use bluetooth streaming, you can still stream audio to the system but track info and album art wont show up on the screen. You are however able to control the music playback. (pause/next/etc) ... This is how it is for the E90 at least. |

NBT iDrive supports Album Art in the display via BT Audio. Track information via BT Audio has been supported since the introduction of the Combox in MY2011.

The Germans also renamed BMW Online and BMW Apps as ConnectedDrive Services 7XP (6NR + 6AK). So it looks like BMW Apps and Bluetooth Audio are indeed standard in the M3/M4 and the 6NS $500 is just the hardware for the baseplate in the center console. I think that BMWUSA is way behind on these changes and thus the confusing USA Ordering Guides. |

My 330d had a snap in adapter and I used to use it sometimes with my earlier iPhones. But now I have a 5S in a case, I refuse to buy the adapter as it is too much trouble to take the case off the phone and slide it in.
It is far easier to just connect a USB cable, so I will not be using it in my F80; am I missing something?

But again, only BMWUSA is showing $500 for 6NS in the M3/M4 when it is included with the M3/M4 Nav in Germany and with every USA BMW with Nav in the USA from MY2014-on. |

6NS is C$600 option in Canada so is more expensive than USA even allowing for exchange rate difference. Amazing price when dealers have no idea what it even is.

I'm a dealer and just did some research on this...
6NS will add a secondary microphone, mobile office, 2nd phone via Bluetooth, and Message Dictation (extra cost of $30.95 annually), and the Smart phone integration. Full functionality for mobile office and message dictation will depend on your phone. Bluetooth Audio streaming will now be standard. |

- 2 phone pairing (only one can make and receive calls, the other can only receive calls) has been supported since MY2011; full 2 phone pairing (both can make and receive calls via iDrive) is standard with NBT Navigation - Mobile Office (emails, text, calendar) is part of the Navigation - Message Dictation is part of Mobile office, only the subscription is required At the end of the day, only the Smartphone Integration is left for $500. In the worst case all those features can be coded. |

So, I understand that UK customers don't need to worry about a thing because they have Media package (BMW Online, Remote Services, etc) and Enhanced bluetooth as stanard. In Germany, for the time being at least, Navi Pro Connected drive is a compulsory option and also includes enhanced bluetooth & snap in adapter, as well as connected drive (BMW apps/online), so no worries there either.
Where I am, in Luxembourg, i have Navi pro as standard but no connected drive and no enhanced bluetooth/snap in, but only standard bluetooth and USB. Now, my question is, if I want to use BMW Apps such as the M Laptimer, I understand I would have to select Connected drive (EUR 347) plus enhanced bluetooth/snap in (EUR 390), right? Or would I only need connected drive, but how does the app on the phone connect to the car? via usb or bluetooth? i doubt it somehow. The EUR 737 extra seems a bit steep only to use M Laptimer. |

March builds-on bundled BMW Apps with BMW Online, and separated the Smartphone Integration (6NS) from BMW Apps in the USA, Germany and UK. Nav option in those countries may or may not include all these options together depending on model. For example, in the USA M3/M4 BMW Apps is standard (Nav is standard), but 6NS is a $500USD option, but in the 3-Series the 6NS is included with the Nav option.
You need to double-check your country's Ordering Guide to determine what is part of the Nav and what is not. What you want to have is BMW Apps, but again, it may be included with the Nav already, as a separate option, bundled with BMW Online or still bundled with Smartphone Integration. Quote:
