You can't really screw anything up ... it's basically editing a drop-down list of options for each feature (although a complex file system and in German ... most series have an available cheat sheet compiled by other coders, and all you need to do is search for the value, and change the parameter to the one that is indicated on the cheat sheet.)

He does that for a living, and he really would love to mess with my baby. I have done some awful things to his cars in the past, so this would be the perfect revenge.

For the M3/M4?

Haha... I believe not, as no one has the car yet. I think you have to ask in the F30 forum ...

I have already done this on my 2014 550xi ... it involves editing your VO (Vehicle Order) to remove 5AP & 8S4 ... then VO-Coding the modules: FRM & KAFAS2 ... on the F82 .... I'm not sure that there is a FRM or KAFAS2 module ... but the first person to get one of these vehicle, we can remotely connect to the vehicle & validate which modules need to be VO Coded .... shouldn't be that hard since someone already figured this out for the 5er and 6er and that's how I got mine done.

My guess on the F80/F82 ....we would need to VO Code FEM_BODY & KAFAS2 is probably present there ... so those 2 modules.

When you get the M4 ... let me know and we'll code this remotely.

How does remote coding work? What software is needed for you to connect to a computer that is connected to the car?

I would connect via free software, TeamViewer, and you would have the ESYS software & PSDZData downloaded & ready to go ... then we would get to coding

You need a Windows Laptop (My Mac Book Pro w/ OS X 10.9.2 & VM Ware Fusion 6 with Win 7 x64 Virtual Machine works nicely as well ) w/ Wifi Connection (to stay connected to the internet) & RJ-45 Ethernet port to connect to the car w/ the ENET cable.

ENET Cable - $20 from me via eBay ... or build your own
ESYS - Free Download Link
PSDZData - Free Download Link
TeamViewer - Free
My Time - Free

@PillPusher84: I highly appreciate your efforts in helping forum members. I would love to have you help me code my F80 which should arrive in the states from ED by end of July. I would like to actually meet up and see how this is done first hand and happy to meet you at a location most convenient for you. I am only 1 hour away from central Jersey area. I especially would love to restore the adaptive features to the lighting package as this would help me out a lot where I live that has some great backcountry roads for driving although somewhat dark. I will send you a PM with my contact info and if you can respond with same I can get back with you when I return from Germany in June to see what we can do.

I was also wondering if there was a menu of options for coding available that you could throw up on the forum to see whats possible and save time when actually ready to code. I have no doubt that anyone in this forum would be thrilled to pay a nominal fee for a cable and your time to code desired features and I will establish the price for you. $49.99!! I was actually thinking of planning an event in September with a tailgate and cruise for Greater Philly area and you should setup a station! I can call it "Bimmers, Beef, and Chips" yeah that works

Sure ... I wouldn't mind helping you out at all or coding at your event. I will put up a list of things that can be coded currently on the F30 series vehicles, however I have not had a chance to get on an F80/F82 yet, so I'm sure there will definitely be more options available for us to work with on the M3/M4s vs the not ///M models of those cars.

It would not be codeable ... unless you were bought all the hardware necessary, and then VO coded the feature to the vehicle.

I'm also expecting to take delivery of a week 25 M4 sometime early August and take great offense at having cool features disabled in my car due to prehistoric vehicle regulations in the US. (oh my god, who thought it was a good idea to make brake lights flash as turn signals and why did BMW agree to do this on US spec cars??!!)

I can imagine a huge line of US F8x owners wanting their adaptive headlights turned back on! :-)

Hi,

You need to run the ESYS software in a windows environment ... so you would need to create a Virtual Machine to run a windows operating system. I use my Mac Book Pro w/ VMWare Fusion 6 & windows 7 x64 strictly for coding and it works great. I will help you set this up if you need help ... just send me a PM wiht your contact # and we'll work out a mutually convenient time to get you all setup to code!

Once again, I have to say it's great you are doing this, and when I get back from AFG and pick up my M4 in Oct/Nov, I will defintely be getting a cable from you, and by then, I figure you should have the coding on the M3/M4 all worked out.

Appreciate it!
