I went for a 2 week trip without leaving the M4 on a tender, car started up no problem. SOC in Bimmerlink after 2 weeks was 62%. Car usually sits around ~70% with daily driving. I drove to get In-N-Out and within 9 minutes, the car was back up to SOC 70%. It seems like the car recharges the battery fairly quickly.

The life of the battery is good on mine. but if I do not drive it for two weeks OR forget to put it on a battery tender, it will start and throw every CEL code in the book until I drive it for 15 minutes, and restart, then everything clears. Something to consider.

I think it’s 55-60% but if you’re not having issues I wouldn’t worry about it, the car will let you know. Just save up so once it does happen you can quickly and easily foot the bill on the replacement.

Is it time for a battery replacement for my 2018 M4 80k miles?
My battery state of charge is 71% this morning in accessory mode before a cold start (60° F). After a 30 min drive mostly highway, it only went to 72%. My comfort access is acting up more often these day. Doors don’t automatically open when I turn off the car all the time. Cold starts aren’t instantaneous, cranks for another split second. It’s my daily driven car in NYC. Would this kit be the appropriate replacement? https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...-ah-agh860rskt I already have BimmerLink and BimmerCode. Is there anything else I’d need?

Original battery 38 000miles Due to the car sitting at the dealership for a year, the battery wouldn't accept a charge upon purchase, so I had to dismantle the battery and charge the individual cells manually. Works fine now ![]() Was quoted approx. $1920 for a new battery... |

2018 M4; manufactured in July 2017. 61K miles. Original battery.
It's been on the BMW-branded CTEK charger whenever it sat for more than 4 days, OR to top it off after I had taken short (30 min or less) trips for several days. Also, the battery has never been stressed by making it start the car after a prolonged rest period.

You might want to replace the battery in your keyfob if you haven't already.
