Your Future Modifications
Let's talk about our F80s! I'd love to know what you have planned for yours. I just finished my brake and suspension upgrades, I went from stock calipers and rotors to the 2NH kit with larger calipers and rotors, and upgraded the pads to carbotech.
Then I downgraded from stock springs to EMD, that was a bad decision, as the ride was super stiff. I should've listen to you guys. But I came to my senses and went with the KW HAS Kit. And now, I'm ready for the next phase. First up: an aluminum GTS hood with a carbon fiber vent. I've been quoted $2665 by the BMW Collision Center here in Fairfax VA. In a nut shell; block and sand primer, 3-stage paint, blend into surrounding panels, then wet sand and buff as my car is Mineral White Metallic. Then I will get the car rewrapped in PPF, and re-ceramic coated after the paint and clear coat has de-gassed. Then, I'm planning a big interior refresh, re-wrapping the headliner, sun visors, pillars, and rear parcel shelf in Alcantara. For a better understanding of the headliner, here are a few photos. I got a quote from an auto upholsterer that I trust, as they've done a few things for me in the past. The final piece of the puzzle will be new wheels. I've been dreaming of HRE or BBS, but their cost is a major factor, so I'm also checking out some high-quality, more budget-friendly options. For wheels, I've been eyeing these affordable Vorenzo Wheels. https://vorenzoforged.com/collection...D-f5yMr967ttPw

And for some shop asking for $4K in the Philly area is insane. I would budget $1250 to include an alignment. I would keep searching for another shop in the Philly area or in Jersey or other shops in NE Pennsylvania. It's not a hard process, if a shop can changed out shocks and struts they can tackle this. What is time consuming is dialing in the ride height. But you do want a confident shop handling this, and not some rookie, who will forgot to reattach the EDC or acceleration sensors, then you have CEL for multiple issues.

IMO you shouldn’t get those HRE reps. Looks best OEM+ but if you want to go aftermarket definitely don’t go with an off brand.
After shipping taxes etc and the additional cost of tires, it would equate to the cost of just getting a used set of real wheels off the forum from either of the brands you mentioned. |

Just recently did:
Mishimoto Charge Cooler (Paint matched MMG) to match my outside paint. Now don’t have to worry about it leaking/cracking and is CARB approved! ER J Pipe installed. I don’t have to worry about this cracking either. I have parts awaiting install maybe this winter: -Insane Performance single piece 4 pin crank hub -crank seal guard -VTT capture plate I want to do that down south at Stuido RSR. Debating on what charge pipes to do… Really want eventuri but would have to swap every two years or just get mishimoto charge pipes that are CARB approved. |

I’ve got a couple jobs lined up
-bbk -kies rear door handles -csf auxillary coolers -mishimoto catch can -AC schnitzer rear window valance I have the last 4 the first one I don’t have yet. Reason I’d like to do a bbk is so I can take my stock setup and put on my f30 to complete my m sport conversion (think the m3 brakes would qualify even if they’re oversized).

Couple recent mods this year were:
- pre-LCI LED to euro Icon LED. - 19x10 and 19x11 VS-5rs with 275/35 and 305/30 Contis. ECS02 - carbotech low dust pads - AWE Switchpath Next planned mods will be: - KW V3 (upgrade from MPHAS) - Millway tension arm bushing - HR Swaybar F&R sway bars - dual diff mount and poly bushings Then maybe next year I plan to do a complete overhaul of the cooling system Garrett TMIC + all the CSF radiators. This is a super expensive car to mod, I do most of the work to save on labor costs. |

- AA resonated single mid - OE IKONS Future - custom tune - rear diff bracket and poly bushings (though I need to drive in one first) - Front lip - I’m sure I’ll come up with more…

I’ve made plenty of upgrades to my M3 since I’ve owned it. Although I don’t have photos, I’ve installed a Turner Motorsports rear shifter bushing, Goodridge SS brake lines, and Carbotech brake pads. In my opinion, the interior is nearly complete except for the Alcantara headliner, sun visors, A/B/C pillars, and rear parcel shelf. The exterior is also almost done, with only the GTS hood and a choice between HRE or BBS wheels left to add. Beyond those, there’s nothing else this car needs.

[QUOTE=greysea;32285389]Are those OEM GTS tailights?
OEM GTS tails are only available for M4's.

No. I've thought about OEM Ikons, but there like $3000 for a set from BMW. And I can put that money towards either a GTS aluminum hood, or towards my Alcantara headliner. And besides, I'm unsure if I have a 6-pin or 9-pin setup.

I honestly don’t know what else I want or need to do. I’ve upgraded the turbos, switched over to Nitrons, added Sportster CS, Full Team Schirmer kinematics, E88s….i guess future mods left are Drivers focused

Most recently, I've installed these few carbon fiber pieces from IND Distribution; oil fill cap cover, charge cooler reservoir cover and engine coolant cover. This little touch dressed up the engine bay quite nicely.

Where did we get those tips at? I love the slightly bigger oem+ look. I think I saw some on aliexpress that look good.
Thanks ![]()

What was your experience with the EMD springs? I’ve heard nothing but good things about them and was about to get them but now I’m worried. F82 Comp btw.

My experience with EMD springs wasn’t great. The ride was stiff, and my girlfriend didn’t like it either. At the end of the day, it’s a sports car, so I tolerated it for over a year, but certain roads made the ride really jarring. While I loved the look of a lowered car, the ride quality just wasn’t worth it. If you have smooth roads in your area, it might work, but if you deal with potholes, it’s a no-go. The main issue is that the front struts and rear shocks are so compressed they offer little assistance, leaving you riding on the springs and dealing with a rough ride. On my commute, there’s this one bump that my butt actually gets me some airtime! My car didn’t bounce like a low-rider, but I did get a lot of . However, switching to a KW HAS Kit was a game-changer. The ride is now much smoother and feels close to stock, plus I can adjust the height to achieve my desired look. Honestly, it’s the best decision I made. I sold the EMD springs to a forum member in LA and made sure to explain the issues I had with them. Here is another perspective, the springs cost me roughly $400, then another $700 to install, that alone, is a few hundred short of the HAS Kit. Some kits cost about $1300, some more expensive kits can cost $6000. Get what's best for you. The KW HAS Kit is a good start. And that’s my take on it.
