My current plans and pipe dreams:

* Swap out Eibach v1 Euro springs in favor of a H.A.S. kit, either KW or MP.

* Replace chrome front grille emblem with a gloss black one purchased from a member here.

* Repaint front bumper

* Paint-correct hood

* PPF the repainted front bumper, paint-corrected hood and headlights

* Replace gloss black M Performance-style front lip with carbon fiber of some variety

* Change to a different exhaust setup; possibly just a new rear muffler to pair with my existing MAD single midpipe, or go with a more comprehensive setup like the AWE Switchpath

* New summer wheel+tire setup....maybe Apex VS-5RS

I just had the top coating of my ceramic coating re-applied. This coating essentially restores the hydrophobic properties of the coating, and makes the car silky smooth, so that nothing sticks to it. I had this done to all three of my vehicles.

The next on my list is the Alcantara interior renovation, headliner, sun visors, pillars and rear parcel shelf. My upholsterer has ordered the material, and the car will be heading to the shop soon.

My M3 is currently at Seatco, my trusted upholsterer. They gave me a call on Saturday, September 27th to confirm that the Alcantara material had arrived and that they’d be starting the headliner project on Monday, September 29th.

When I dropped the car off, I specifically asked for progress photos throughout the process—and even reminded the owner again yesterday. So far, I haven’t received any updates, and I suspect I’ll only get photos once the job is complete. I may swing by the shop this morning to snap a few shots myself.

In the meantime, I wanted to share some reference photos that illustrate the look I’m aiming for. These aren’t of my car—they’re from another enthusiast who did the Alcantara headliner himself. I reached out to him directly, and he was kind enough to share his results.

Honestly, I’ve always felt this should have been the factory standard for all M3/M4 models. The Alcantara headliner adds a level of refinement and sportiness that perfectly complements the character of these cars.

To each his own, but I'm totally not feeling these headliners. Reminds me of a Cheech and Chong van or something. Maybe I'm just too old, lol

Honestly, I don’t think age has anything to do with it—I'll be turning 60 this year myself. My passion for performance cars hasn’t faded one bit.
My F85 X5M all came from the factory with a Alcantara headliners, and my W211 E63 AMG sports one too. So naturally, I want my M3 to match that same premium feel.
I understand that Alcantara isn’t everyone’s cup of tea—some people love it, others don’t. But at the end of the day, it’s my car, and I enjoy it. That’s what really matters.
I genuinely appreciate your comment and respect your perspective. No hard feelings at all.

Maybe it's one of those you just gotta see it in person things..Totally didn't mean anything negative by my comment btw. You are 100% correct - If you love it do it up! I see a lot of folks kit their car to what other people like. I appreciate someone like yourself who's willing to color outside of the lines so to speak. PS I love me an X5M!! An you def need em to match! Hahaha

I didn’t take your comment negatively, and I honestly appreciate it. It’s always good to hear another perspective. I was just sharing my view that BMW should have made this the standard headliner from the factory.
The M3 is the top tier of the 3 Series, so it seems fitting for it to have it. Considering the price we already pay for these M cars; it wouldn’t have added much to the cost. In my opinion, this was the one feature my car was missing.

Same. I kinda like the material on the stock headliner, very utilitarian looking and feels very durable.

Sometimes a little goes a long way, I feel the same way with carbon fiber. Just a sprinkle will do.

Well, I visited the shop today, to get some photos to post and they haven’t even begun to tear it apart.

I was quoted about a week for the job, mainly because the windshield will likely need to be removed to properly install the headliner. I’m hoping that won’t be necessary, but realistically, it probably will be.
The headliner is delicate, and you definitely don’t want to risk bending or creasing it during removal or installation.

I totally respect your perspective—and I genuinely appreciate hearing it. Personally, I feel that adding Alcantara to my M3 will elevate the car to a whole new level. It’s not just about aesthetics; it’s about creating something truly unique. You rarely see Alcantara in an F80 M3 unless the owner went out of their way to have it professionally installed, since it was never offered as a factory option. That exclusivity is exactly what makes it special to me.

I'm never touching a headliner, so... Alcantara is predominately used in sports cars to hold you in place as it's less slippery than leather. On the roof, who cares.
