Haha. I know a little. Not that bad with cars . I am looking at the one you are referring to next to the firewall. Here is a zoomed out picture.

Anybody here have any insight as to why it has blown twice on my car? Is there any other part of the circuit that can be causing the failure? |

Well I don't know about some of the other commenting, but after teardown what blew my motor was bending a rod as a result of water ingestion from the damaged intercooler. So I would advise caution.
My new motor arrived on Tuesday to the dealer, they are working on it. I hope to have my M back on Friday. |

Double check with your SA. If you're lucky enough and he/she believes this to be the case, and you go in with an engine issue, should the dealer warranty anything, the writer and tech would end up eating the repair - which is not your concern and lucky for you

Can't say categorically, but my experience with BMW has been for same type issues, BMW is pretty good about covering as a goodwill repair....never tested this though with a $25K motor and hope to never find out.
For those who have had the issue, can you post your manufacture dates please? Maybe just a string of bad intercoolers. Glad it worked out for you OP and Pokerpot , hope neither of you have any more issues.

Do they reset your odo or anything of that sort? I know I’m being silly by asking but never had an engine replaced. |

I wonder wth you all are doing with your cars reading how many issues you all are having with coolant leaking, rear diff issues, spinning of the crank hub, ... are these cars being seriously abused? It’s like that meme “am I a joke to you?”. BMW builds a nice engine + car that is already being pushed to the limit and first thing most do is pushing it further to the limit. In this case however since BMW agreed to replace the engine the car was stock?
Also if BMW is just replacing the cooler with the exact same one but fresh out of the box, how exactly does that resolve the problem? Or dud they redesign it? |

LOL, fortunately this applies to all marques, not just BMW.

BMW did not reset the odo when a family member's E90 325i needed a new motor at 10k miles.

Has anyone with a leak actually had the dealer show them where the part was leaking from or inspected it themselves. If it's different leaks it could just be bad luck. If they all tend to leak from the same spot it could be a design flaw.

They normally add an extra odometer and label them engine and chassis.
