Was your dealership able to find and fix your interior rattles?
As title states, I am curious to know how well BMW service centers do with finding and fixing interior rattles. I have quickly developed a rattle somewhere in the center console, behind nav screen I think. Anything other than a glass smooth road, which we have very few here, triggers the noise.
My previous experience with Lexus doesn't have my hopes too high. Any positive experiences getting these things sorted out? Thanks, Kevin

I have a 2 month old '17 M3, and the rattles are DRIVING ME ABSOLUTELY NUTS. I know there's a thread about rattles here, and I've tried some of the remedies, but they don't work. My main "rattle" comes from back seat behind the headrests. At first I thought it was those plastic cheap covers, but even if I put felt tapes all over them, the rattle is still there. It's actually coming from underneath the cover I think, but then again, who knows. I love the car, don't get me wrong. But I just can't get over the rattle, every. single. day.
Sort of reminds me of my girl a while back. She was hot, easy going, fun to hang out with. A blast to be around for the most part. But man WTF she snored like a fking drunken rhinoceros. |

I've had good luck with the one issue I brought it in for. Turned out to be improperly routed e-brake cables which were rattling on the gas tank. It obviously took some in-depth sleuthing by them, so no complaints here.

depends on your relationship with your dealer. i've had good success with having my dealership patiently work with me.
talk to the sa to allow you to have a tech ride with you to go over the rattle, if they fix it, bring some cookies or something for the staff.

Fix was easy. Plastic pry bars to release light fixture and disconnected one cable. Take out the plastic clips and place electrical tape around 7 plastic on plastic contact points. Rattle gone! I don't want to tempt fate but car is almost rattle free. I'm down to creeks now in center console which I'll fix this wkd. |

No. I have an annoying squeak from the back that the dealer spent 2 days trying to fix. I realize this car is a 3 series with 20 inch wheels, but none of my other Ms have squeaks. I'll attempt the third brake light fix - thanks!

I really don't have rattles, but the damn creaking/flexing sounds are driving me NUTS. I'm not sure there is a fix for that.

Thousandth time I've posted this so what's one more: just add some gummi pflege around the door seals (primarily the felt backed does attached to the door not the body). I did this on two occasions and haven't heard a creak in more than a year. Had to do the same thing with my E60 M5. To be clear, the chassis is very stiff, it's simply the seals.

I've got an annoying rattle coming from the driver's side door lock pin. Only happens in the locked position. If I unlock the door during driving it will stop. No sure what the fix would be, but if anyone has suggestions I'd appreciate it.

I generally have to point out the rattles to them and they will inspect and test to see if it is there. They won't, or shouldn't, randomly drive your car so they won't know until you point it out to them.
I been right on the past 3 times on my F30 because it was pretty obvious. The last time on my F30, after I told them about this increasingly irritating rattle coming from my passenger side, they eventually found out that the door handle and lock pin on my passenger side was hitting each other, causing the noise. So they put some stuff in between it to fix it. I trust my SA so he always writes it down and tells me. No rattles on my F82 though

At around 3k miles I have rattles that come and go. Seat rattle window rattle gauge console rattle. But they seem to settle and stop over time and some come back. Haven't been consistent enough for me to spend a day bringing it to dealer.

I found someone who said they popped off the trim, and added a bit of electrical tape on the bottom part of the pin. I might give that a try if I can find time.

Are they the lock pins on the doors you use most? I may have to try your suggestion. The sound drives me nuts!

I had one that was driving me crazy. I can tell you this guys now: DOOR CARDS.
I have wedged cut up plastic gift cards, etc into the gaps on the bottoms of the door cards. The clips don't hold the panels snug enough, so they rattle. I still have a few more rattles I'm chasing.
