GTS carbon discoloration

Hey everyone is this normal? Bmw seems to think so and won't replace the part.

Looks like someone tried to rub out that dark "stain" in the middle of the discoloration. Definitely not normal but do they think it was "man made"?

Bmw NA said this is normal. My local dealer agrees with me. Bmw NA said I have to buy the part myself if I want to replace it.

This is how I received the car. I noticed the discoloration when I washed the car in my driveway weeks after delivery.

I had this happen several years ago on my OEM CF spoiler for my E92 M3 and the dealer replaced it without hesitation. I don't believe it's normal to have an OEM part degrade this prematurely. With that said, I always make sure to apply a good layer of wax or sealant on CF parts with high exposure to sunlight.

Bmw came and took a picture with their old digital camera and it didn't even pick up the flaw in the carbon and sent it to their headquarters and I was denied.

Normally I woul say nbd and buy a new one. But it’s an expense part

Check the warranty terms to see if it’s eligible, and call them out on it if it says eligible

This is just one of my several problems with the car. Bmw claims it's running fine despite videos and other owners having the same issues. This will all backfire on them.

that blows man. BMW always denies shit, when they can't figure it out or its just a design flaw. Like they know replacing the part won't do anything so they hide behind" could not replicate"..Hope you get a new spoiler, thats BS. I notice flaws on my car, but I just let it go. Too much baggage to hold onto.

That's definitely not normal. I've never seen that on any OEM CF part from any BMW. Keep pushing and take it up with Corporate if you're not getting anywhere.

Definitely not normal but was it caused by someone (maybe bmw?) in the pics it really looks like someone tried to "rub" something out in two directions.
I'd move this up to the bmw na rep.

This was a factory flaw. My body shop looked at it. It's under the clear coat.

There is a process for getting Bmwna involved. Do that.

I already did that and they said sometimes this happens with carbon fiber and I told them another GTS owner has carbon flaws and they replaced his and they pretty much didn't care.

Were you at least able to get it into R so you could maneuver your way to the dealer? It would suck to have to drive to dealer on "89" gas, without reverse, all the while your car is pushing you while off the throttle, just to look at a polishing mess up. Good time with that car sheesh. Hope the future is bright.

Maybe if it clearly states in the warranty terms this defect is eligible, hault your car payments until they fix it.
