Drexler Motorsport Diff
Anybody switched their OEM for a Drexler Diff and improved lap times or had issues? Did u swap for a M4 GT4 version or custom set up?

Drexler Diff now installed and it’s epic, so much more drive out of the corners, anybody thinking about it (for track) shouldn’t think twice, possibly the best mod I’ve made...

Drexler Motorsport will have a distributor near you. It requires the OEM Diff to be removed, opened up and removed, machined and modified and the crown wheel gear updated, the new diff put in plus a new left hand drive shaft as the right hand one doesn’t fit ... plus they recommend fitment of a seperate diff cooling system (esp for racing) and disconnection of the GHAS module which removes the diff control component of the DSC. Sounds scary but if it’s a track beast the increase in traction, drive and lock and will result in significantly reduced lap times. Better to check with your local dealer for pricing as the machine work and fitting is where the bulk of the cost is. You can also choose custom ramp angles (which I would recommend for semi slicks) or the M4 GT4 set-up. Your dealer can assist with this also. Not sure if there are other options out there but if it’s good enough for the M4 GT4, it’s good enough for me 😬 wouldn’t do this on a street car tho...

He’s in Germany but ships custom built diffs for the E9x M3 and F8x M3/4 to the US. I think he also works with someone in the US. He’s extremely knowledgeable when it comes to diffs and building custom race diffs. Here’s a link to his diff thread on m3post: https://www.m3post.com/forums/showth...&highlight=LSD Toward the end of the thread he shows pics of the custom work required to convert and build a F8x diff. |

that's what I'm asking! This is the biggest issue for me about changing the diff
Besides, the eLSD that comes stock is pretty damn good |

They perform a lot more similarly than you'd think, especially when looking at the price of the racecarrier. The biggest difference is while braking, where the racecarrier keeps the rear of the car more stable than the eLSD The racecarrier upgrade for the E90 is a huge upgrade, but on the CS/GTS1/GTS2 I will not be hurrying to get an aftermarket diff until the stock one blows up |

A lot of the Ring guys in Germany swap out the E9x/F8x diff for a Drexler unit; the Schirmer cars run Drexlers too. Never got to find out why. I wouldn't be surprised if some do it just because everyone else does.

Money no object I'm sure it's better in the F8X gen as well Another point is likely longevity. A high quality diff is a pretty rugged affair and likely lasts multiple times longer than the stock one |
