CS Owners - Is the lack of center armrest annoying?

I love my armrest in my car. Honestly can't imagine not having something to rest my arm on. Is it a big deal?

This is the biggest drawback to me oddly enough. Pay 20k more and you get a carpeted piece of cardboard for the center console and doors. (yes I know it's a track car) Its like a phone without a headphone jack. I wont do it out of principle. lol

I miss the storage, but have not missed the arm rest since I first drove the CS off the lot.

I briefly considered the CS until I realized it doesn’t come in a manual transmission. But seriously how much can an armrest weigh?? What a stupid omission.

Don't miss it in my M3. More room between the seats. Better for the driver. Looks cool too. I have a small storage bag I threw all my crap into and keep it behind the front seat. I never have anyone in the backseat anyway so...

I love that there is no arm rest. No it’s the perfect size, more room.

I actually prefer it that way, without the armrest. While the lack of storage is a little drawback, the improved elbow room to handle the steering wheel is very welcome. The same holds true for the much smaller door armrest on the M4cs. It makes for a better driving environment.

I now use the small cubby below the headlight switch to store wallet, keys and phone.

My arm rests get in the way of my elbows. Would get a CS just for the delete.

Why are you resting your arm on the center console when you're driving? Your right hand should be on the steering wheel, at the 3 o'clock position. Your left hand should be on the steering wheel, at the 9 o'clock position. Arm rests are for arm chairs, in your house. The seat in your car is not for lounging, it's for holding you in the correct position while you're driving.

I've never rested my arm on the center console while driving, in any car.

Holy fuck, I've had my non-cs m4 for some 2,5-3 months now and I didn't notice the cubby there until you mentioned it.

Technically you're right, but who actually drives the entire time with their hands at 3 & 9? Just like we should always drive the speed limit, but how many of us never go over?

I always drive with my hands at 3 & 9. So does my wife. We both know that that is the best position to be able to react to something unexpected and the best position to control the car. Comparing your hand position while driving to driving the speed limit is a bad analogy.

Sounds like you're always on "high alert" lol.
It depends on body size and seating position but I find myself resting my arms on door and center armrest 90% of the time along with left foot on dead pedal while hands are just bellow steering wheel controls so it's not exactly 9 and 3 but pretty close. It's been like that in many Bmw's and it always felt the most comfortable way.

Can't imagine having my elbows in "the air" entire drive, especially if I'm just cruising. In spirited drive situations hands go above steering wheel controls and that's the only time I'm not using arm rests.

Back to topic, had a chance to sit in CS and having said above, the thing I noticed immediately was my right elbow looking for a place to rest, also the door side armrest is too small for my taste but I'm just a lazy driver who likes to be comfortable
PS Small compartment bellow headlights switch is great idea, reminds me back of E38 era.

Lol, buddy yes granted but you're supposed to follow the speed limit as well and do you follow it?

Besides, I think he means at a red light or parked when the armrest becomes useful.

Like I said before, that's a bad analogy. There are laws regarding speed limits. Exceeding the speed limit is a traffic infraction, and could become a misdemeanor or even a felony. There is no law regarding where to place your hands on the steering wheel, it's one of the first things that's taught to every new driving student, and anyone who takes any kind of car control or high performance driving school. It's also just common sense that you should drive in the position that will give you the best control of your car in any situation.

Why is it a bad analogy? Because it's something you've done? Also, you can put your hands on 10-4 if you'd like and still be able to manage the same control. So you're wrong if you're saying that 9-3 is the only correct way which is also not the law at all. You can drive with one hand if you'd like.

At the end of the day, I do not think the OP started the thread that without the armrest WHILE driving was a pain. I think he meant it more for when you're at a red light or just parked. So if that's the case your original post is mute.

Go to a driving school and see where they tell you to put your hands. And why.

I actually said in my previous post that there's no law regarding where you place your hands while driving, but somehow you came away with the opposite conclusion.

You keep saying "I think" but I appears that's not what's going on here.

I think that you mean "moot". Look it up.

And it's usually a point that is moot...

You can say either or. Stop trying to deviate from the purpose of the thread. At the end of the day don't make assumptions from the OP's question by throwing out all of this unnecessary jargon to show you obey all these rules when you yourself have broken rules before.
