Hello,
I find a 2017 GTR with only few thousand miles and perfect condition-mechanical and cosmetic, being listed for sale. The car runs and looks flawless, and I personally do not see any issues. I am thinking to sell my f82 now The car's pre-repair pictures can be found here: https://dukemart.com/auctions/xw6gxh6qsx1dsp0w/ I attached some current pics under this post. The car does not have any structural or mechanical damage reported on carfax Here comes to my questions: 1. What would be a fair price for this car? 2. What should I be aware of when buying a salvage GTR like this? 3. Will an experienced mechanic be able to identify all issues of a salvage car? Thanks in advance for your input. |

So...honest question here.
Why not post this on a GT-R forum? Seems like they'd know better than anybody.

Well it can’t be perfect cosmetically if it’s been in an accident like that.
Here comes to my questions: 1. What would be a fair price for this car? - no clue but take NADA black book pricing and drop 20-30% from that? 2. What should I be aware of when buying a salvage GTR like this? - frame integrity, repair quality (use a magnet to test for excess bondo u less the panels are aluminum) test with paint meter to see extent of paint. Existing GTR issues like transmission etc Likely could be hard to insure for full coverage due to it being a salvage title, at least cheaply 3. Will an experienced mechanic be able to identify all issues of a salvage car? -If they specialize in GTR’s, they should. I’d also be totally upfront with them so they go in knowing what to look for. Are GTR’s still all the rage these days? |

I’d post some of the after repair photos showing passenger quarter panel. Bumpers are easy to replace.
Looks to be a rear end collision. Mainly rear end suspension repair. I’d ask to see the frame measurements post repair vs oem specs. Surprised they totaled this. |

I’ve seen a gtr with this approximate amount of damage totaled because the rear differential was toast. If you plan to keep it for a long time ok, but if your done with it in two years I would pass unless you get 30% off fair market. Salvage titles are a pita to sell.

OP, is this a private party sale? If so, are they the ones that had the repairs done?

That’s better than a repair shop fixing the car and trying to make a dollar.
How do you feel about the honesty of the owner?

I think he is ok. I found a local gtr specialist who can help me do a thorough inspection before I purchase. I am now just wondering how much I should offer the seller.

Personally, if you feel like your the only one looking at it. I would take the price you think it’s worth and subtract $5k. You can bargain with him for this amount. If he jumps at the low offer, rethink what you are doing because at some point you will be trying to sell this car and do you want to be the guy hoping for an offer.
