Advice on How to Safely Sell Parts/Wheels

Folks,

I've sold quite a few parts and wheels through the years. Usually a cash transaction. As I have grown older I've become more paranoid about safety. I plan to sell some wheels in March.

In your experience, what is the best and safest way to sell now a days? BTW, I plan to sell only locally.

You can get your item out on forums, ebay and craigslist for local pickup. I usually try to avoid craigslist for selling wheels since there isnt really a feedback system but small items are fine.

Is the safety concern about being robbed when meeting up? I usually check feedback or post history and ask for phone #. If im selling wheels, and someone with 0 post count contacts me, i would be cautious. You can bring a friend with you during the meet. You can choose to meet at your house or somewhere public. Its not common to get ripped off, so i dont expect it. I feel local meet up is less scammable than shipping.

Never experienced any bad deals except for a dumb seller packing glass headlights without any protection between the glass. They smashed together during transport and he blamed me for dropping them. Wouldnt refund me so i had to file claim with paypal.

As far as the physical exchange, use Police Station Safe Exchange Areas - more and more stations are adopting this type of thing. In my experience, it's typically a few parking spots on Police Station Property dedicated to safe exchanges. They are video monitored 24/365 and clearly marked. There's obviously Police Officers and squad cars everywhere. I also make it clear that we are going to meet at a Police Station. Those with good intentions won't care or may even appreciate it, and those with bad intentions will obviously stay away. Hope this helps
