295 / 30 zr20 tires on m3 competition.

Any thoughts on increasing the rear tire size from 285 to 295? The fronts are 265 / 30 zr20. Engine tune is up by 70 hp. Model is 2018, otherwise stock.

Depends on offset

I run 295/30 rear and 275/30 front
Minor rubing in the rear which was fixed by trimming the liner a bit

No 295/30R20 are the same, it largely depends on the tire’s tread width.

I just put 295 30 Michelin 4s on the rear of my m3 competition, it rides better and hooks up better, no rubbing either

I have 295/30-20 Continental ExtremeContact Sport tires on the rear. Lowered on the MP HAS kit, no issues, with even more clearance post my recent street/track alignment. I have 275/30-20 on the front which did required a little plastic liner "massaging"....

I had MPSC2 on the rear at 295. It was fine.

Different tire brands/models have different section/tread widths as something already mentioned.

For example, the popular 295/30/20 4S is a pretty wide mofo, 11.9 section wide and 11.1" tread width.

That's a 1.2 inches wider tread width compared to the stock 285/30/20 Super Sport. I think it looks a bit much on the stock 10 inch wide 666M, I tried it before and it bulges out and looks funny.

This x2...

Although, having a more "square" tire edge profile on the rim (OEM or aftermarket), vice the "stretched" edge profile that comes with the OEM tire sizes, does have its advantages, even if it is only cosmetic. The more square edge profile may require some additional clearance (front and/or rear), with more negative camber, depending on your suspension setup.

I personally prefer the more square edge profile with the extra rubber from an aesthetics and performance perspective, especially when combined with a more aggressive alignment. So I am happy with my Continental setup. But YMMV of course, based on your objectives for your car...
