Foot trunk release not working M Performance and other rear diffusers
I got my MP diffuser installed by stealership. Foot trunk release not working. When I undo the central 2 screws (out of the 4 that are used), somehow it starts working. If I don't insert the screw through the latch tabs of the diffuser, the sensor works. Unfortunately, I can't tell where the hell the sensor is.
Anyone have ideas aside from taking back to dealer? |

I messed with mine this morning and was not able to get the boot to pop using the kick no matter what I did, which is odd bc the diff are identical besides the blades. For me the feature was never used anyways but if you are someone that uses it all the time and has already become custom to using it then def wouldn't hurt to take it into your dealer and see if there is any conclusion to this.
Next time I goto the store ill have the guys take a look at mine as well

Per dealer and BMW engineering--who they consulted--CF diffuser has design flaw in that you lose the foot trunk release function when it is installed. No plans on a solution but clearly the diffuser would need a mod/redesign.

I'm not buying it then. I use the foot thing daily... I carry a box that goes into the trunk from my office almost every day. I'd be pretty pissed if I spend a grand and then lose this function. |

Exactly the way I feel. Ridiculous man. You'd think w all the engineering and r&d they do we wouldn't have to compromise for this kinda money.

Probably any propylene plastic one like oem material would be fine. Im sure it has something to do w the fibers in the cf weave as well as the resins in it also.

DO you need the middle ones? I noticed the standard diffuser doesn't even use those screws.

Yea maybe you could find a plastic push clip instead if it is needed to keep it from flapping around.

Diffuser does not rattle without middle screws but heat shield does.

Correct, but the standard diffuser clips into the white plastic piece holding the sensor, which in turn uses those screws.
