Track numbers

Anyone have a recommended source for track numbers (i.e. decals), and were you able to find anything re-usable?

https://www.trackdecals.com/

Very happy with the look & quality of their vinyl decals. Not re-usable.

Re-usable - they also have static cling numbers that stick on the inside of a window - maybe that might work if not too much tint? There is also magnetic but I personally wouldn't use them except for maybe auto x.

+1^ i used track decals as well! i have the magnetic ones and they are great! i was a bit skeptical at high speed for some reason, but i ran them at autclub (closing in on 160+ at the end of the front strait) and they stayed on no problem lmao

I've used these and have had no problems with them coming off at speed or in the rain. Just used a razor to cut off the black trim. They make other colors too

Not numbers, but my wife and I order all of our track decals from this company and highly recommend them.

We have decals of all of the tracks we've driven on our helmets and on the underside of the hood. On our helmets, we order the decals in the color of the car we first drove at that track (silver, blue, orange, etc.) This is the only company I've found that has a large choice of colors and sizes. On the underside of the hood, we have white decals of all of the tracks we've driven in that car. They also have some specialty stuff, like blood type stickers, which we also have on our helmets.

Got the magnetic numbers from Track Decals, worked great at laguna Seca. Was a bit worried they would fly off but now would definitely recommend.

8" number height which was fine

This is the same company I used to order my track outlines for the rear window of my car. I have a track day ritual where I apply the sticker just before I go out for the first session on a new track. I’m up to six, with four more planned for this summer so far.

I ordered some 2" black and grey decals for my rear quarter window. I'm hoping either are more stealth that white. Basically, I don't want people to see it from afar.

I use FireStormGraphix.com for my wraps. They also do magnetics. Great custom work and affordable.

Exciting. You will need the number on the car for morning tech inspection. Lots of first timers use 1 inch wide blue painters to form their number. Amazon sells it. If you know your number beforehand definitely apply it ahead of time because there's a lot going on the day of.

Location of the numbers varies by organization. Most common location seems to be rear window...

Have fun.

Thank you! What’s your wheel and tire spec? Is there any spacers in the front with negative camber?

Apex VS-5RS 10.5x18 ET40 square. This allows me to rotate criss cross to extend tire life but it requires a 20mm front spacer for inner suspension clearance. I'm on MCS coilovers using a 5 inch spring with helper. Apex's fitment guide has loads of info.

With this wheel I've run 285/30 and 295/30...Nankang AR-1, CRS, Yoko A052 and most recently Toyo RR which I love for the price, wear and consistency/heat resistance.

Lots of info on the forum but it can be hard to boil it down if your new to this like I was. Once your hooked on this money sucking addiction you'll want to start with camber plates, track brake pads and fluid and a dedicated track wheel (BimmerWorld and Apex are good choices) with an endurance 200TW tire. And a helmet.

-3.0 front camber at the track and -1.7 on the road.

If you want to spice it up a notch, you can order these door number plates off eBay. These number backgrounds are magnetic and subtract 5 seconds off your lap times. Then you can order whatever 8 inch numbers off eBay too for 3 dollars.

Also, the track day organizers I have have driven with don't care what number is on your car as long as you have a number. That usually means you can stick with one number forever and use a magnetic background to reuse between track days. There have been multiple cars with the same number in the same run group as me.

I've found that the magnetic ones bend/kink if you don't store them perfectly flat. After that they never seem to sit flat against the car surface which increases the chances they fly off. What's your trick?

Despite my previous post from a couple of years ago I have been running a magnetic number card on my M2. I store mine on the side of metal storage cabinets when not on the car to prevent them from bending.

Just saw this thread bumped up and thought it would be worth adding a pic of the magnetic version from trackdecals

Definitely agree you need to keep these guys flat.

If my magnetic backgrounds aren't on the car, I stick them to the doors of a metal storage cabinet in the garage. Could also stick them to the side of a refrigerator, tool box, or something else. Works great!

I echo what others have mentioned. Store the magnets on your garage cabinets to keep them flat. Make sure the back surface is always clean so they don't fly off or scratch your car.

I got mine from Future Classic to add some additional style to the numbers.

Good tip. Are you guys driving to/from the track with the magnet attached to the car like a cannonballer? If not, how do you pack it flat for transport so it doesn't kink/bend?
