If it were at the top, it looks like making and adjustment would mean taking off the strut nut and lowering the shock. Just trying to better understand the adjustability of the front. Thanks!! Ill shoot you a note to the email above as well.

His comments that you quoted do not make any claims that aftermarket springs require modifications. The statement simply says that his product fits into stock spring locations so no modifications are required. What makes you think he was referring to other springs?

MP HAS and KW HAS you have to hammer off the perch to create a coilover. In this kit the spinner sits in the stock front cup.

So it combines a tender spring with a main spring to create a variable spring rate. Nothing special and certainly nothing new. Any existing coilover and HAS setup can add a tender spring + shorter main spring and create their own variable (and known) spring rates.

Yes they could but do they currently? Also the main MSS spring is formed of 2 different spring rates which means it has 3 spring rates on the rear. That type spring was developed by MSS with the help of Eibach over a number of years. |

It’s something easily added and only requires a tender spring, main spring and spring coupler - fairly cheap option for an existing setup. The other advantage is you can specify the dual-rate for your specific application, not someone else’s unknown range of rates. So in this case they designed a dual-rate tender spring that has two different “solid heights”. The spring stiffness of springs in series isn’t additive, instead the spring rate decreases as you add more springs in series (e.g., use two main springs with the same rate in series and the combined stiffness is 50% of the individual main spring rate. Drops even faster with three springs in series). They must be using some really high individual spring rates if they’re shooting for a useable stiffness range that’s known to work well on the rear of the F8x - soft to stiff street range - and have useable range of motion for each of the three rates. What are the individual range of motion for each of the three rates? Looking at the tender spring, I’d say it’s ~2” and ~1 in before it hits its solid block height (ignoring spring compression due to static weight carried by each corner). The rate of the remaining only active main spring is likely really stiff at this point.

Imran, thanks for providing the link to m3cutters for some feedback. I plan to order a set of these springs (sport version for my M3) from your firm in the next day or so.
