How to change the water injection filter/stone
In preparation of the driving season I decided to change the stone-filter in the water injection system. Purchased 13-63-7-857-605 filter, removed the 17 mm cover bolt and could see the filter but could not figure out how to remove the filter. It sits flush in a bore, it is not magnetic and is too tight to use forceps to remove it.
So I called the dealer. They don't know how to remove it and and could not find a written instruction. Next I checked the inter-web. There was a TSB: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...52658-9999.pdf No help there. Has anyone replaced this filter and how did they do it? Gracias. |

How many miles on the filter you replaced and was your car not using water? Also, street only or track time as well?

Purely maintenance. My miles are track miles so I want to take care of the water injection system. I was at Daytona last December and used 1.5 gallons a day so the system is working. I have the updated water system and since then the system is working perfectly.

My GTS just had a water injection service done along with oil and filters. I'll pick it up later today. Is this a standard service for all GTS cars or an update to new components? I'll ask when I pick it up, just curious if anyone knows.

Anybody have a picture on how to pull out the filter stone? I'm having the same problem.. Is it within the water tank / the pump? I could not find the working manual in my ista+

Probably a silly question - but can any water work to fill the tank? Does it need to be distilled?

I bet many of the problems we hear about with the GTS water system are related to non-distilled water being used
When I change the stone filter after every weekend, it has white residue on it. |

Yep. After my experience I stand by my advice to just dump out the tank when you buy one and start with fresh water and a fresh filter. Took 3 filter changes for me to get all of the residue out of the system so it could start flowing again.
