No Vehicle Vin.....

I've been reading forums all night to no avail. I've let the car sit, tried the car with a charger on 30amps...., car running (with charger I've got 13.3), IP is dynamic, token worked and such then computer updated time, Esys shows two different F020 (I have an F82) so I chose the non-grey one (see picture below), and still nothing. Enet cable is nice, heavy, solidly plugged in. Computer nearly instantly found the car and assigned an IP- using a USB to ethernet adapter.

Still cannot get Esys to get a VIN to connect. Ideas? Can I connect via IP?

You have an APIPA addr (169.254.) assigned, that's good, but you have 0 bytes received, no good. I haven't used Esys in well over a year, the UI looks different so let's focus first on ensuring you are receiving some bytes from the car.

Install Wireshark and capture for 1-2mns on your laptop connected via ENET to car, quit ALL other apps. Share or PM the .pcap file or check that your car is sending some bytes to your PC.

So I went ahead and reset the ethernet adapter then renewed my IP and it worked...interesting.

However, now Esys allows me to go in and modify some stuff but for others it asks me for my pin. When putting in my pin (0000), it doesn't work.....I tried making a new token and a new pin (1111) and then redoing esys but that didn't solve the problem. New Ideas?

Are you using the token re-arm solution? If so, make sure the system time is set back, run the re-arm and try again.

Yessir- got it working but to do so, I had to make sure that during the entire coding process the machine time/date was not changed and every time I wanted to reconnect to the vehicle I generated a new token. Not generating a new token would not allow me to connect again...interesting I think. Now I get to play with figuring out my FSC code!

Might as well buy a pro token to make it easier
