I blame it on the new Electric Steering?

just a thought.
please chime in.

I just know how E92 is in high speed turns,- very planted and solid... very rarely needs correcting... (maybe I am not going fast enough?)

The Porsche exhaust is louder, has more presence and depth with a nice little rasp on start up. Wish the BMW came with a better exhaust stock. I think some one said that Eisenmann does the exhaust for Porsche and AMG (don't quote me on it) and it shows.

I am in the camp that really likes the new M3/M4. I can't wait to take delivery of my M4 and just the numbers alone (lighter weight, substantially more torque, even more hp) will make this a great car. I'm sold. Plus, HUD, LED lights, carbon ceramic brakes, updated design with hints of M6 and 1M coupe, nicer interior (though I don't like the new idrive screen as much as the integrated unit in my old E92 M3). This is going to be a great car. I feel that this is a step in the right direction from the E92 M3 and doesn't do anything to make the E92 M3 less special.
you wanna know what the car will sound like.

just google up 335i with a exhaust.

car and driver

"The M3’s exhaust note is deeper and louder than that of a 335i, but not radically different"

IMO 335i are not known for being really good sounding engines.

I thought my 1M with a magnaflow exhaust was delicious - I hope they can use the same muffler and charge $600.

What would be nice though if BMW did it themselves....

For a pro driver with a lighter, more powerful car on a very, very long track like the Nurburgring it's pretty easy.

Here's a source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...leife_lap_time

E46 M3 - 8:22
E92 M3 - 8:05 seconds
E46 M3 CSL - 7:50
E92 M3 GTS - 7:48

The new M3 weighs around the same as the E46 and is more powerful than the GTS.

Jealousy is not going to slow it down for sure.

Jealousy? I've owned 5 E46/E9X M3's.....and I'll own the F80. What is there to be jealous about?

Looking good.

Now for a request: BMW please give us with this generation a mid cycle CSL or GTS version with race seats, no luxury tech options, choice of tranny, a few extra hp, less weight and good availability in the US.

I've always felt that way about the E90, but I think it's hands down better looking (F80) than the coupe. Honestly! I'm not finding the 4 series to be very appealing.

Funny at all the sounds crappy part. The s65 sounds awesome but there is no exhaust note at all. Yes the engine noise will not be there but with intake and filter itll sound like a 747 jet taking off. Try it in high gear and climb revs slow. Sounds awesome.

Oh btw, the same guys buy exhausts on the e9xm to make it sound just as fart canny lol.

Because it shares the same front end as the M4 and has a wider stance.

What you have said makes total sense. I don't think it will sound as good, but maybe with the aftermarket options (or an M performance exhaust option) it can be improved upon. A V8 is very difficult to beat from a sound perspective and the induction noise on the V8 is heavenly. I guess time will tell what can or can't be done on the new M3/M4.

No question, engine noise will not be as good. No matter what you do aftermarket, no one can make an I6 turbo sound like a high revving NA V8. It is a done deal.

At this point, I'm looking forward to better performance, updated technology, and new aesthetics. Hopefully that will outweigh what has been lost.

i also love a 911 flat 6 sound, and GTR. but for some reason i have never been into BMW inline 6 sounds.

but yes time will tell.

Every new generation of M3 has been a good news/bad news event. The I-6 was a disappointment vs. the refinement of the racing 4-cyl. The V8 was a disappointment because it just wasn't "BMW" (and it needed the Weight Watchers program). Every one of them has been faster and more luxurious than the one before it, and every generation has earned rabid fans. The big difference is, that for the first time, THIS generation will be lighter than the one before it!

Personally, I love them all - each for its unique strengths that make it both an awesome driver's car and a daily-driver family car. The M3 is dead. Long live the M3 (er...4?)!

Same here... not really GTR though but BMW inline 6 sounds were never my cup of tea..

I guess I have to hear it in person, but I hear so many 335i's on a daily basis if it reminds me anything of that it's going to suck
