Anyway, I added this to my initial reply but I'll put this here as well: The reason I'm so confident with respect to pricing is because I considered an E92 M3 before ultimately choosing my W204. The E92 had a base price (with DCT) of $63,000. The current W204 C63 coupe (which is still available for sale) has a base price of $63,000. Whenever I optioned out the cars (I personally was comparing the W204 sedan to the E92), the prices were virtually identical. My W204 ended up being cheaper though. It is virtually "loaded" and came to about $71k.

In response to your comparison, the base C63 starting at 66k is fathomable to me considering that some of the options on the M3 is standard on the C63 (DCT and MCT for example)

The 2017 E-Class interior made the C look like a total joke, and if you don't have one on order it'll take you approximately 7 months to receive one. Not worth it in my opinion. From what I've seen the C-Coupe will also be more impressive (internally and externally).

The new "S" model is analogous to W204 PP car. I think $66k is about $4k too high for the W205 base model. Benz knows the C63's fiercest competitor is the M3. They wouldn't make the mistake of pricing it out of the segment. The W204 C63 models were always within a few thousand dollars of their similarly equipped E9X counterparts. My "ideal" F8X build comes out to $79,225 (Silverstone, Full Leather, Driver Assistance Package, 19" wheels, Lighting Package, Executive Package, Harmon Kardon, DCT). I'm guessing a C63 S (which comes standard with 19" wheels) build, similarly equipped, would be around the same. It's fun to speculate but I'm just going to wait for the U.S. pricing to be announced. Production is about to get started so I imagine pricing will be out very soon.

As much as I like the C63 from what I have seen and read, what makes BMW the better value is the free maintenance for the first 50k already priced in. So since these are luxo mobiles, that's a pretty penny considering that's a good chunk of a cars life.

Well if this is, in fact, what the coupe looks like then it will be on my next car possibility list for sure. It may come down to this or the M4 comp pack. This render is truly beautiful (unlike the sedan which I personally find too round).

I dont get what it is with the modern design style of coupes with GT rear ends... why not have a slanted profile into trunk a la e92?

Ill consider this car when well into my 40's or 50's. Its a more elegant and sophisticated look than the F8X twins. Until then, Ill enjoy a car that fits my lifestyle, looks, and age.

supposed to be the same as the S Class, not sure I like it, really long/high dash top
can you tell from my last 2 posts I really don't like Mercedes nav screens! never cared that much for the pop up I had in my C63 but I liked it better than these |

After watching all the available reviews I can find, it looks like a test drive of the C63 in manual mode, in anger, is still required. The tranny was by far the biggest let down in the w204, hopefully the new model won't have the same deal breaker for me.

both cars were introduced at a sponsored event in Portugal. I think the first reviews are pretty hard to go by. I think the biggest concerns on my list is: Price (for the C63S) Actual Weight Tranny performance exterior rear looks too round... also track is not widened and skinnier tires - not sure how that will translate to rear handling. We'll see soon how it fairs on the track- really getting interesting.

it would have been nice also if the new C had the center console design of the GT. Looks really nice.

Yeah it's just I've heard C63's tranny is "OK" and / or "Acceptable" in more than one review already so it's a bit concerning, considering how good the C63's competitions' trannys are |

Just back from the Calgary Autoshow.
The AMG GT is faaaaahking gorgeous. Serious The C63....sorry. The rear end still loses. I have the usual assortment of crappy iPhone pics but it just has no presence, which is a shame. Also, sat in a C400...the interior (which i quite like in pics) was less nice in person (I know, not the same as C63 but...). And the iPad screen doesn't really work. Anyway, very nice car but aesthetically anyway, having seen both, I just prefer the look of the F80 Edit: Now photos. (which, on my iphone are normal but on my chrome browser are sideways so...whatever. sorry. or something)

for instance on my dct today i downshifted 3 gears- 7th to 4th. I was on the freeway and barely needed 7th (less than 2k rpm), and wanted to pass. it skipped the gears and gave me the one i wanted immediately. I could not do that on my old c63 (pre-lci) now could i do that with my zf8 speed on the X5 or on any other car with paddle shifters that I have ever had. Usually the gears shift one by one, a lot slower compared to the DCT. I understand not everyone needs the quick shifts, but I am very happy to have it. One fault with the DCT is that it is not great in automatic mode compared to the MCT.

but yeah, the rear needs some lines. I think the front of the car looks amazing (tied with my F80) it is the rear and the rear quarters that I think does not work for my tastes.... A lot of people like the sleeper look more, so it is a question of taste.
