If you're referring to the COMP pack wheels (not GTS) then the front is 20x9 and rear is 20x10. I wouldn't go wider than 265/285 to be honest, even that is pushing it for OEM.

If you must, you "could" go 275/30/20 and 295/30/20 (it's within spec). They will look a bit bloated. When the tires are too wide for the wheels, you'll get less road feel as the sidewall isn't tight.

Some OEM sizing even want a slight "stretch" for more road feel. Example, the 991 GT3 rear is 12" wide and uses 305 tires, which is 1/2" wider than the tire company recommends for 305.

I think you meant 305/30/20 for the 666M.

What sizes do you intend to get for the fronts ?

I'm looking for rear tires for the same rim spec (comp. pkg 20"). Is anyone running the stock front Pilot Sports w/ a different manufacturer in the rear (Bridgestone Potenza RE71R 295/30/20R) or have any recommendation for more traction with a 295 or 305 spec for the rear?

I went with 275/30/20 and 295/30/20.

What pros/cons have you noticed with the wider tires? I'm thinking of going with a similar setup.

If you want to wreak the great handling on this car the easiest way to do it is to put tyres that are far too big for the wheels on.

Why do you guys do this?

The tire sizes mentioned are within the 666m 20"x10" spec. They aren't "far too big." Check out the tires' specs on, for example, tirerack. They provide a rim width range that the tire will fit on. For my inquired Bridgestone Re71R 295/30/20, it will fit on a 10"-11" wide rim. The 666m rim is 10" wide.

The reason behind getting a wider tire than the provided 285 super sport is for more rubber. More rubber=more traction. And with 10mm more/tire x 2 tires, 20mm Or 3/4" is significant. Plus, who doesn't love a fatter M3/M4 rear end.

The 30 aspect ratio on 275 and 295 gives you a slightly taller sidewall.

This will give a bit more cushion and wheel protection for choppy roads. Living in New York going up 10mm width works out well for summer tires

Oh also have to take into account that some brands have a wider tire width even at the same sizes. The 275 PSS are measured with a tread width of 9.5 inches and the 275 Advan AD08 has a measured tread width of 10.6. That's 1.1 inches wider contact patch with same size tire. So wider tire does not always mean "wider contact patch"

You should not rely on the section width to give an indication of how much tire is on the road. It is very misleading and it can vary greatly depending on a specific tire's contruction. TireRack profide tread width info in their specs, which is very useful info.

For example, going from the stock rear 285/30R20(*) PSS to the M5/6 295/30R20(*) PSS will increase the tread width by a whopping 1.7" on each tire (from 9.9" to 11.6"). This is quite meaningful and significantly more than the 10mm (0.4") section width increase suggests.

M5's come from factory with 295's on 10" wheel
