Fire Orange .... again
I know its been done but its one of our favourites please excuse the awful iphone pics, as and when it gets shot i'll get better ones. I tried to capture the contrast stitching but failed miserably
Its also the last one we will see for a while. 2017 or even 2018 to be vague. There are still 4 M3s and 1 Convertible headed stateside but.... Plant Munich is currently unable to offer Fire Orange as a special order until the new paint shops are in full operation, which will be the end of 2017. This paint requires a specific paint process and without the new paint machines, we are not confident in offering it to our customers. Recent customer orders had to be cancelled due to poor quality. As Fire Orange has a low opacity, it has to be painted with three layers of paint in Plant Munich, sometimes four. The current capacity of special order paint in Plant Munich is six units per day (worldwide), if you count single layer paintings. Every double layer painting decreases the amount of units per day, and Fire Orange requires a minimum of three layers. It simply was not feasible. |

Interesting perspective about Individual paint, thanks for sharing. FO is still one of my favorite colors, suits these cars more than the E9x M3 IMHO.

So you are saying all the e92 m3 in fire orange have minimum 3 layers finish?
That kind of explains why my FO m3 is more resilient to paint chips with no clear bra than my previous Mineral White with 3m bra. |

Yeah its great. I have to say the tanzanite on Amaro car we have is probably my favourite though. Here it is next to Black on Golden Brown, you can almost see the difference in the leather colors

I love fire orange, the M4 is one of the few non-exotic cars that can pull it off. You should do a quick video of this car in the sunlight.
FYI, anybody looking for FO M4 there is 2 on cars.com |

I had 3m ventureshield on the MW car and still had way more chips than the FO without anything other than Cquartz.
Nway, guess the 3 stage paint process isn't the reason why FO paint seems to be more resilient.
