I find the e-tron RS-GT to be quite the stunner though in terms of looks, and performance wise, it is essentially a Taycan wearing better looking clothes, not too shabby IMO.

Agreed, wouldn’t mind something like that being my first electric car.

They've been advertising this during race broadcasts. It's gorgeous.

At the other end of the Audi performance spectrum, I've been building "stripper" rear-wheel drive R8's. Can't identify a single option I'd want other than color ($595).

Figured I'd request a quote. First offer was 2% off MSRP, estimated 6 months to build.

Question is whether to exchange one discontinued N/A engine for what I suspect will be another pretty soon.

Read on the Porsche page they are now expanding Exclusive Manufaktur with:

Quote:
exterior wrap options, individual starting numbers, prints on the floor mats, illuminated door entry guards and logo projectors in the vehicle doors. Customers can choose to become designers themselves in the ordering process. Options include elements such as colours, logos, lettering and text.
Also Performance Parts range for new and discontinued models:

Quote:
Cayenne: wheel set, floor mats, luggage compartment tray, roof basket and mud flaps are currently being tested for feasibility. Parts currently being newly developed include a performance chassis for the 996 generation of the 911 and for the Porsche 959
And also, which was inevitable, Manthey-Racing GT2 RS parts now available from the dealers, too. And 3D-printed 918 buckets.

https://newsroom.porsche.com/en/2021...ces-24483.html
https://newsroom.porsche.com/en/prod...nce-parts.html

Seeing how Porsche and BMW are pushing individual options only reassures me how much money there is to be made in this side of the business. Pretty soon, manufacturers are also going to offer options for your car that you unlock online, kinda like a subscription service.

From BMW

Quote:
The next step will be to expand aftersales upgrades for vehicle functions on demand previously only available as optional equipment ex works. This will enable us to offer our customers additional vehicle functions they can use flexibly or just for a limited time, if they choose. This means they can continue personalising their vehicle and adapting it to their mobility needs on an ongoing basis... Features, like driver assistance systems, selected light and sound packages, or even suspension.

We expect the proportion of aftersales upgrades for vehicle functions to account for a significant percentage of our highly profitable optional equipment business in the future.

Wife and I got gas for both our cars yesterday after hearing about North Carolina, we didn't have any issues, but as the news spreads I'm sure the lines will get longer as people start to panic.

My 2 closest stations were down to a pump or two with long lines. 3rd station no problem. Approaching $4/gallon for 93. People look pissed. Good luck to the elected persons who willfully curtail supply someday.

Audi moving to EV's does give them one big benefit: A proper RWD-based system.

Yep the GT is quite cool and would be nice with an ICE in it

I was aiming at the e-tron SUV

Thats wild, upside down indeed.

Although I struggle with no engine noise at all, like, tire noise is cool but it's deafening without the engine roaring.

I don't like this future, we have to go back

Wow!

Even if I had the money, I don't think I want me developing anything car related.

Lol! Damn! That's a hell of a.......build. My current build PNP8YBY3 is already at $139k. I'm so done messing with that configurator. Porsche is stealing my money, and quite rapidly too.

I've contacted about 15 Porsche dealerships. With the exception of my connect, none of those who have contacted me back are willing to budge off MSRP and some won't even budge off their over sticker prices. It looks like my 3% off is about the best that I'm going to get in this climate.

I thought that was just for the ConnectedDrive apps. Frankly, never used any of it except a map update.
