Is this normal or is it a fluke? Filters were brand new when installed. The driver side seems to be much dirtier than the passenger side.

I tapped them out on separate paper towels so you can see the difference.

Cuz ya dirty!

Yeah definitely interesting find. I can jus think that one side pulls more air than the other.

But it really shouldn't unless one of the turbos is not spooling as good as the other (imho) I dunno

Figured it out!

The rubber air snorkel fell out of the area where the air scoops / front grill connects. I disassembled the air box and reconnected everything and used my leaf blower to test.

Interestingly enough, my IATs appear to have come back down to normal. They were pretty high for a while and I couldn't figure out why.

Something for you guys to check out

I'm assuming that the dirt that didn't go onto your filters was still sucked into the intake tube through the gap. A Blackstone and an oil change may be in order, along with pushing a clean rag through the insides of the intake. Just thinking ahead of possible probs.

Possibly your gap was before the filter (no debris up intake tube)…and that side was sucking hotter but cleaner air from under hood instead of the grill area?

Pix of problem area please.

I had more or less the same problem when I changed the spark plugs on mine. I cleaned the air filters at that time and while making sure the driver side filter box was seated properly, I noticed that it was not well aligned with the plastic tubing coming from the grille. When you push the box down to get it seated on the thingy below it, that pushes the box out of the said tubing. It takes some work to make sure the tubing clips are locked and the box is seated.

The area affected is basically the passage where air enters from the air scoops before the air filter.

It looks like the air scoops do work but they also push in a lot of dirt and debris which is why the side that was connected properly was dirtier with larger debris.

The area I am referring to is right in front of the grill rather than post air filter.

Yup exactly.

You need to make sure to align the clip from the passenger air box with the air tube otherwise there will be a huge gap and you'll be pulling air from right below the turbo hehe

Here is a pic. The rubber boot where air comes in basically fell out of the housing.

This makes more sense now. I've noticed a few chunks of grit in the bottom of my air boxes before. Since I use stock air boxes without scoops I think I'll add some black pet-screen over the duct openings inside my grill.

Looks ok to me. I'm assuming you removed the plastic mesh when you installed the scoops.

Yes I did. Am I not supposed to do that?

I did the same as well. However the plastic rigidity is there to keep the boot from being pushed in at high speeds. I would monitor them to make sure they don't get blown in
