Might as well just code in the remote while you're at it.

OP, your mirrors are working properly. Mine are the exact same way as yours. If you look down the side of your car from the rear, you will notice that the rear fender flares stick out equally as much, if not more when the mirrors are folded in. I laughed pretty the hard first time I folded the mirrors in after coding the car. "Umm, Is that it!!?!?!?!!!"

Driver Side Mirror retracting but not all the way.
I washing my car today and I noticed that my driver side mirror doesnt retract in as much as my passenger side does on my 2016 M4. Its off by like 10degrees compared to passenger side. Needless to say, my OCD is kickin in! Lol!
I just asked another buddy who has a 2016 M4 and he says that his does the same thing. Is this normal? Anyone else having this issue? How about you guys with M3's?

Have never noticed this and don't care enough to look. I know they both fold in when I lock the car. That's good enough for me.

I didn't notice that one folded in further than the other until I read this thread. I'm already OCD enough. I don't need even more things to pay attention to. LOL! I am curious about the reason for the difference though.

I'm going to try and forget about this altogether before I go out at lunch. That way OCD will be a non issue.

OCD is perfectly fine, as long as you have a really bad memory
Dammit, now I have to go check my car, and then wonder why they did this as well. And is it the opposite for RHD cars? I'll probably forget by the time I walk to my car... but then wake up in the middle of the night in a panic and have to run out to the garage. |

The search engine sucks in this forum so that's maybe you didn't find anything (I never do). There is nothing wrong with your mirrors, everyone with a new ///M has the same. I have an M3 and its the same. I think I remember reading is that the assumption is that BMW designed it that way in case you back up you can still see peeps or a car......stupid design

Man, when you think you know all the quirks of this car, indeed the driver side mirror doesn't close as much (less by 1-1.5") compared to passenger. I am checking if there's a coding option in FEM_Body... Haven't found anything obvious to change that behaviour ! Well, it helps to check the mirrors themselves, it seems the driver's side has a shorter folding due to a different mechanical stop as evident when you fold the mirror by pushing in it by hand. So no coding option will change that

Mine isn't that grave a difference. It's maybe a 1/2" difference at the most.

I'm surprised no one else noticed this. When you fold your mirrors you can see yourself in both mirrors. I'm guessing that was deliberate. I mean, we drive //M's so obviously we are egotistical

As we drive on the opposite side to usa I just thought I'd ease your mind that yes your right the drivers side mirror dosnt fold in as much and that's with the steering wheel on the opposite side. So I guess it's designed like that .
And yes they do fold in with comfort access. |
