I honestly don’t like how it looks, especially the rear end. It’s a very bland car with some odd design elements around the headlights to try and change the blandness. It doesn’t work for me and it is a very rare miss for Porsche in the looks department IMO.

I’d get a Models S plaid mode over the Taycan if I was looking for a fast luxury electric sedan.

Here is a better shot of it and this new ad video along with a glimpse of the 992 GT3.

Wait until you see it in person, especially the interior. and the full length glass roof. Model S looks very sad and dated now when I see them. Taycan ruined them for me and I have been a Tesla fan, except for the Model 3 which I find hideous.

I think both the above video and the blue in the Will Smith video show the car well. That said, it ain't Merican looking like a ZL1 or a F150 so perhaps we just have vastly differing taste.

I had my deposit over a year ago to get one but think they will still need some refining on the platform and cost is a little high. In the meantime sold my M3 and bought a .2 GTS

its a first adopter car, with technology that will eventually trickle down to the rest of the line up. People with money to burn will essentially help pay for Porsche's development costs which are probably more than what Porsche is charging for the car.
enjoy your ICE 911s while you still can...

There was a black turbo s in the showroom when I picked up my 987 yesterday. Yeah, it's 10x better looking than the model s. The sales guy commented on how it's the only awd car he's driven that broke all 4 tires loose and got a tad squirrelly off the line. Unlike the turbo s which hunkers down, the taycan's torque can be unruly. And those front brake calipers....picture half a medium sized pizza. Much needed to bring all that mass to a halt.

It has 100% torque at 1 mph. My buddy was telling me they will be warning customers big time about being careful starting at red lights behind other cars. The cars accelerate from a dead stop at an ungodly rate.

I don’t limit myself to brutish US muscle/trucks etc. I love the way the rest of the Porsche line up looks, for some reason this one doesn’t work for me. There is something odd to me about the very aggressive front end that goes to a very bland back end. There is a joke there somewhere I’m sure.

I did get to see one driving around the dealer when I was in the area this last week. It still didn’t change my opinion, especially the goofy wheel design/colors. But, it’s Porsche and I’m sure it is an amazing performing car with the requisite amazing price tag to go along with it after you get the options you want.

Here's a model 3 with a basic drop and different wheels I found on Reddit. Just from the pics I don't see how the Taycan is overwhelmingly better looking, but I guess we'll see when the Taycan hits the roads

I love the hyperbole... "watch out when acceleration from a light behind other people.. its SO FAST". It's exactly what a sales person should say, but wow, I would kind of find that insulting.. like, do you think my throttle control is that bad?

Really not expecting it to garner much love on a BMW board, but come on, a Type 3?????

I am sure you could snap enough photos and do a little photoshopping to make anything look kind of okay. There are several Type 3s I see every day in my parking garage. They look cheap and econo, but they are so cannot really fault them for that.

RE Acceleration

I kind of took that as a negative rather then positive hype, but make total sense to me given what the 0-30 numbers could look like.

RE Rear End

I actually really thought the rear of the Taycan was very well down, especially the lower valance area. I thought it looked better than the 992 actually, especially in white with the white lower trim piece.

It's all subjective, but I cannot think of another 4 door out there except maybe that AMG GT63 that I think looks better in the flesh. BMW sedans fell behind the times years ago and never kept up looks wise.

Better shots of the rear in the video above. Cannot really judge the rear of a car while it is up in the air on a lift with the angle I snapped on an iPhone. I was also trying not to be obnoxious as I was surrounded by Porsche employees and the only non employee back there.

That’s so true.

I love cheap and econo cars that perform above their price class. That has always been my buying criteria and what led me to f80 m3 several years ago.

Taycan 4s at $106k starting price and having a third less range and slower acceleration potential than a $57k model 3 is just too much of a tough deal for me to accept.

Not sure about 1/3 for comparable performance? The mfg range for the Turbo S is 192 miles. Porsche may have been conservative on range going by this article where independent testing apparently revealed 290 mile range for the Turbo S.

https://amcitesting.com/taycan/

Shouldn't the lower powered 4S and base models have better range?

Porsche is also conservative in their performance numbers by up to 1/2 second 0-60. That would place the Turbo S around 2.1, the Turbo mid 2s, and 4S low 3s to 60mph.

Low to mid 3 seconds to 60 is good enough for a family sedan and I would gladly pay more for the higher quality, better looking vehicle with a much nicer interior.

2.4/10.5/130 is an impressive slash line. Pretty sure the 992 turbo s will surpass it though. ICE FTW

While I may not get a Taycan V1.0, I'm happy to see more manufacturers in the game. Looking forward to the future.

2.1 seconds is wishful thinking. The cars been tested and it's not even close.

Not even close? I think 2.4 to 60 and 10.5 in the quarter mile is pretty nice. I think I also heard the range ended being way better than Porsxhr factory numbers.

Car and Driver said 3rd fastest car to 60 they have tested with only the Porsche 918 and the Huracsn Performante.

It’s about to be the 4th as the new Porsche 992 Turbo S will be in the 2.1 to 60 range.
