Need to know if this is UK cars as well, as my vehicle was built towards the latter end of this time scale.

Serious downer on the fun and excitement.

The M's are only built in one place, so it could theoretically affect any car - no matter which country you bought it in.

It'll be a supplier issue as they don't make the diffs someone like GKN will, in fact I think they do.

Pity for BMW as they get the blame!

Keeping the keys is better than it going at whilst at WOT I would have thought.

Well like with the 991 GT3 stop sale, someone has made the decision it's not safe to drive hence the keeping of the keys.

My car is stuck at 5500 and has not moved for a week and a half... Trying to find out when mine was built as the dates are very close, mine was built week 27 and the 4th of July is the Monday. Guessing if mine was built after that it should be ok..

The dealer knew there was an issue just not what it was, also doesn't know if my car is one of them

Mine is affected, been sat at build completion since two weeks ago, not moved since. Checked with dealer today, and they have got back with the news that, yes, there is a problem. He said 3 week delay, but i bet its more than that.

He was very surprised that i knew about this, as the info was only released yesterday, the power of the internet eh ?.

Not true at all. Depends if it is a M4 specific issue or M3 specific issue or M2 specific...? or if it is a component defect - as a whole.

According to people on cutters, seems there is a whining noise from the diff.

I've always noticed a whining noise on my car, especially when coming to a standstill but thought it was the DCT. Can anyone with a older non affected car confirm if there should be a whining noise from the DCT?

Scott,
Was built 1st week of July, so whatever week that was. Had been sat at 5500 i think, not sure of the code, and hadnt moved since which we thought was strange. Further investigations with BMW brought us todays that it was one of the effected cars.

Yep, my car is on the list. Been advised by my dealer to wait out as there's no direction from BMW about replacement or anything in place as yet to rectify the issue. If they take my keys off me, there very sure that it will be with them for a good 2 months due to the unknown time scale.

Brilliant

So mine was built at the same time which is why it's sat at 5500.

Asked the dealer for my vin to see if it's in the list

Don't have my VIN either, will get it from the dealer tomorrow. Mine has been 5500 since 1st July, my dealer wasn't aware of the issue and was still expecting it. Will be amazed if its not on the list
