So from the drivers seat, it probably really doesn't matter. But in saying that, I'm still keeping the S65 for as long as I can |

Hmmm. Interesting. Sounds alright under under throttle, coming down it sounds horrid. Anyways, it was rare for an E9X M3 to have a stock exhaust, I see people swapping out this one right away.

I woke up this morning and was so excited as I heard the new m4 in my driveway. Like a kid on Christmas morning I ran to the front door and opened it to see......the landscapers.

It has E46ish cues and F30 MPE cues with reduced Rice Krispie noise It's definitely indeed different... Hopefully it will hold boost and not blow off so much that you can hear the aktivator and differential whine I'm indifferent |

Sounds better that the previous videos, but I suppor the guys who says that best way to listen to car's sound is under load, not standstill reving.
Hope for the best!!!

Go listen to the noise that the old Turbo engines could produce..RB26DETT, 2JZ. THe sound just as good as a BMW N/A I6 IMO. For some reason the Japanese were the only ones to get turbo engines right in the noise department.

My 08 335i with the golf T mod sounded better than that. I know it's not going to sound like a V8, but I've heard better. They'll probably pipe in the sound of the V8 over the speakers so when you're in the driver seat it'll sound magical.

Pleasantly surprised... Not a V8, no doubt, but still gives a nice crispy sound!

Why shouldn't we be able to compare the two? This car replaces the old M3, comparisons to speed, handling, feel, and sound will be made. To say, "this car has an inline 6 so we're not able to compare it" is akin to me saying the new car has a carbon fiber drive-shaft, so we shouldn't compare 0-60 times. The reality is that the car doesn't sound as good, period. Is it still a better car overall than the E9x? My guess (since we don't have any unbiased reviews yet) would be yes. |

And what universally acknowledged standard defines that sentiment?
Your statement is based just as much on YOUR personal preferences as a statement that one type of music sounds much better than another... Just because I like Bach, doesn't mean everyone else agrees that his music is the best... Or that a NASCAR sounds better than a F1 car... I'm sure you will find lots of people who prefer NASCAR to F1 sound and vice versa. Doesn't mean any of them are right or wrong, it's just personal preferences. And I prefer the more hard, racy sound the S55 had in the last two videos to the more soft, warbly and mellowy S65 sound (stock exhaust). The S65 with stock exhaust is probably much more "likeable" to a US audience grown up on V8 engines, whereas the S55 seems to have a more "European" high pitched metallic sound in the two videos in the OP. |
