F80/82 1200HP Drive Shaft Shop Axles..
At TPG Tuning our main goal is to go as fast as possible and sometimes you have to find a way to do it. Recently we ran our car at the track without launch control and hit an 11.1 We were hoping to capitalize on a 10 second run with slicks but found ourselves discovering a weak link. The rear axles... The first run with launch control and slicks resulted in a rear passengers side axle snapping. not giving up we replaced it that week and took the car back to the track... The results were identical but this time is was the drivers side...
Understanding they just couldn't handle the TQ and slicks we decided to contact our friends at The Driveshaft Shop! They developed an application for us that could be used in real world conditions and handle the stress we apply at the track. The end result was a staggering 1200hp capable axle. We will be using these on our car and also be selling them directly from our shop. Price will be $1,500.00+ tax and shipping for both with core exchange. Also in the sponsors classified page! Here are some pictures of broken and then the new ones! [IMG_2050 IMG_6062 IMG_5496 IMG_7497 Last edited by TPG Tuning; 10-22-2015 at 10:12 AM.. |

They sure are.The biggest flaw is the shaft is hollow on the inside. Without having them covered by a warranty, they are over $1,000 dollars a piece to replace. I think it's a great upgrade for everyone looking to push there car and not be stuck on a tow truck.

Prior to launch control with drag radials they were fine. But with our tune exhaust and drag radials and launch control we had literally back to back runs of them snapping. First drivers side, then passengers side. Costly breaks. But we decided to not buy any more factory ones and just have these built! |

This is a great upgrade. Are they heavier/lighter/equal to stock weights?
Thx

You guys should mount a gopro under the rear chassis to monitor the movement of the rear suspension under full acceleration from a standstill. It might be axle hop that is causing the failure. Wouldn't surprised if that's the case. A diff brace might be the better solution to this...
DCT still uses clutchs (although a multidisc wet clutch pack will engage a bit smoother than a single disk dry clutch in the manual), so the power delivery won't be as smooth as torque converter in a standard automatic. So wheel hop can still occur if you are not careful.
