Looking at the vid again, this car is seriously quicker and better planted than the e90 m3. Very impressive bmw.

Looks PLANTED, not to mention rounding the ring successively with a turbo'd engine (apparently a high rpm one!) requires very efficient cooling, from the intercoolers to oil etc.
I like what Im seeing so far. A high rpm, properly cooled turbo engine is rare to come by by any standard. If its hitting 8k rpm and those turboes are still feeding solid boost that high, yet still give proper boost in the low end, the engineering behind this engine should be very respected. The understeer is kind of expected in a stock M3, too much front negative camber and the poseurs will be calling BMW NA bitchin about the excessive front tire wear on the inside. |

There's a lot more induction noise than I had anticipated. Sounds similar to an S54. Looking good BMW, keep up the good work!

The noise. Everyone complains about it... I don't think its a bad sounding car. It seems like while daily driving this on the street it will have a very good sound presence with its deep and bassy exhaust. The E9X sounds amazing in the upper RPMs but really lets down when doing casual driving on the street. I've always liked how the E9X M's sound like a fast car, far away, even when they're close to you but sometimes its underwhelming.
This car sounds great and will command a presence at all RPMs it seems. What's interesting is that the prototypes dont all sound the same... That noise is most likely the ceramic brakes. I could be wrong but I believe the BMW turbo engines use diverter valves not blow off valves. Last edited by Jblack4083; 07-23-2013 at 01:56 AM.. |

It looks fast as hell, no doubt. But I'm sorry, that is not how an M car is supposed to sound. Not in the least.
