Previous Dyno

We encountered a potential bug (still unconfirmed) with MHD during the previous dyno session (11/07/18); advanced timing was way below target, so we decided to troubleshoot by flashing the BMS E85 BEF via BM3.

Thanks! Your car is pretty fast itself even for 6MT. The BMS E85 BEF will be under constant development until Terry is fully satisfied with the BEF, or until people stop feeding him logs. It's not a bad setup for a flash tune that costs zero $$$...

The beauty about the stacked configuration is that I can go from Map 2 (chill mode) to Map 4 (true valet mode: 8 psi) to Map 5 (mild, enough to eat a good majority of modified street cars) to Map 6 (feeling lucky) and all the way to Map 7 (kill mode) in 3 seconds or less while the car is running.

Built-in logger via bluetooth is also clutch anytime open throttle positioning reaches 80% with a timeout duration of 3 seconds. I don't have to worry about datalog start/stop anymore.

FWIW, a buddy of mine also brought his M4 w/ custom BM3 E85 tune at the same dyno, same day, but for some reason, his power output was off by about 30whp compared to mine... it doesn't seem like there's anything wrong with his tune, but I advised him to double check with his tuner, anyway.

First chart was due to timing issues as mentioned. Second chart is most likely just the dyno operator following my instructions on stopping at 6.8k rpm, as opposed to flat lining all the way to 7k rpm. Map 7 is a bit aggressive, and typically we can iron this out by mixing in 2-3 gallons of high octane (104-108 unleaded) fuel, but I opted not to do it for this dyno.

You're more than welcome to review the logs if you want to analyze them with your expertise.

Interesting so the free published JB4 back end flash maps can be loaded via BM3 the same as they are loaded via MHD? That makes it a lot easier for BM3 customers to throw on a JB4 and play around.

Yes, BM3 looks like a webified version of Tuner Pro with additional enhancements, so the supported file types (.bin) are relatively similar. The BEF flash process itself is pretty straight forward, at least for the above average customer, which sadly isn't very common for the F80/F82 platform -- I think I've seen more tune experienced owners over on the F30/F32 side...

This option only became viable when PTF released their flash feature options for custom maps. Otherwise, one could've flashed the BMS BEF without any issues in the past, but they wouldn't have had the option for CEL delete, VMAX off, cold start, and fake burbles.

I've been using the BM3 + JB4 BEF combo for over a week now, including 1/2 mile testing at NFZ, along with the recent dyno and 1/4 mile runs with absolutely zero issues. A few months ago, I discovered that there's more you can do with the free BMS BEF maps that the general public don't know about. However, I'll refrain from sharing those discoveries unless Terry gives it his seal of approval.

I believe my other hack is one of the reasons why Map 1 with the latest JB4 firmware no longer supports +4 boost additive when equipped with a BEF

The power is fairly decent considering that it's technically on an over the shelf (OTS) setup that anyone can replicate on their cars. As for 60-130, I'm honestly not sure. Dragy has been showing me low 7s, but none of them have been dedicated 60-130 runs.

Question: I have a very similar setup. BM3 Stage 2 E30 with custom JB4 Map 6 values. Best dyno was at 549whp, but it feels like there's room for more. Apart from the mods, are you able to share specific JB4 settings and firmware?

Answer:
1. Update to firmware to 1_8_4

2. Set all [Duty Bias] values to [50]

3. Enable FUD bit 6 only

4. Set FF/Wastegate Apoption to 100
>> This value will auto adjust as you go

5. Set FOL to 60 with E30, FOL 65 with E50, FOL 70 with E85

Your setup is a little different, because you're running full meth along with a more conservative BM3 E30 BEF. But give the settings above a whirl, and keep me posted.

I was wondering how you were able to flash or download everything. I have BM3 E30 OTS map currently flashed. I have the JB4 hooked up and have been forced to run Map 0, because the datalogging functionality went away ever since they got rid of the previous Map 4 pass through profile (logging only).

Answer:
Assuming you're on JB4 firmware 1_8_4, you'll need to enable Future Use D (FUD) bit #6, which tells the unit that you're using a flash tune.

From there, switch to Map 1, and JB4 will target flash tune boost values only. This should allow you to regain logging functionality without any interference from the JB4 unit
