Fixed Comfort Access problem after installing wireless charging pad
I recently followed the instructions here to install a wireless charging pad (this one from amazon: ) in my 2016 M4 Convertible.
I didn't bother to disconnect the battery as I found that it was such a pain to access the battery in the vert (still haven't found a good way - if someone does please let me know!). Probably a bad idea as I had the battery discharge to less than 65% (per Bimmerlink). When I was done, comfort access wasn't working! The key fob worked fine to unlock/lock/start the car but the door handles weren't doing anything. Bimmerlink showed all kinds of codes - reproducing them below in case others have the same codes and are searching for them. 1C Integrated chassis management 5 errors 48010F: Dynamic Traction Control button - line interruption 482797: M-Drive - EDC - line break 4827EE: M-Drive - EPS - line interruption 482714: PDC line interruption 4827E1: Top - side view camera button line interruption 72 Driver's side footwell module 2 errors 030101: FH FAH, relay closing, no output voltage: relay adhesive or fuse defective or short circuit to ground 030181: FH BFH, relay closing, no output voltage: relay adhesive or fuse defective or short circuit to ground I think the above were because I had to remove the buttons next to the shift lever as shown in the video above. Once I cleared them, they didn't come back. But these were persistent and seemed to coincide with comfort access not working. 40 Car access system 2 errors 804107: Front interior antenna (IRV): Line interruption 8041A8: Welcome Light repeat lock active After a lot of searching I found this post but for a 5-series: https://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1242359 I removed the cupholders and figured I had forgotten to connect one of the cables! This cable is a small black connector that goes into a small module right below the cup holders. I previously wondered what this module was when I doing the install. Now I knew! Looks like this module has the antenna for comfort access. Once I reconnected that and put everything back together comfort access was working again! Just wanted to document this here for future reference. |

Last time I checked, this wireless charger wasn't compatible with m3/m4 center dash layout
Is the charger protruding too high?

Here are some photos. It's not flush but I love how minimalist it looks compared to the Sighil charging pad I tried originally. This charging pad was much sleeker though it required a more intrusive install.
It seems to work fine though I haven't checked the charge rate yet. I attached it with double sided velcro so I can access the cigarette lighter and tray inside if needed. The rubber pad on top seems to keep my iphone xs with a slim TPU cover in place even during hard turns. |
