Want a radar detector- need rec
Hey guys, want to get my literally first ever radar detector and possibly a front and rear camera.
Need recommendations....would prefer something that is carried at best buy but open to anything.... Thanks!! |

ValentineOne Gen 2. There isn’t a better radar locator out there. If you run it with v1 driver and waze it beats anything else. Don’t get the blend mount, i recommend this instead: Radar Mount Mirror Mount Bracket for Valentine V1 Radar Detectors - V1 (3001004) https://a.co/d/afhz6j7

I have the R3 and can't point to a time where it clearly failed me. Obviously if you feel you really need the arrows then you'll need to look elsewhere, but for value I think R3 is hard to beat.

I have a Uniden R7 in my daily and a V1G2 in my M3. I love both, but for an every day driver the R7 is much quieter, even when using JBV1 with the V1G2 to make the V1 a bit quieter.

I had an R7 and upgraded to an R8 only because I got a great deal on the R8. Sold the R7 and broke even. Can't say anything negative about them. Works absolutely amazingly. Paired it up with the blendmount.

Here's another vote for Uniden R7. I use R7 + Waze now, and it's a solid combination. For context, I previously had a Uniden R3 and DFR7 and was also very pleased with those.

I was back and forth on R7 vs V1 G2 ( as are so many ) I ended up sticking with the V1 G2. Just ordered it, and should have it in a few days. I have been running a ~2007 era original V1 up to now, and its still working great. GF will get it.
My cousin got the R7 ~2 years ago and he likes it. Impression is that build quality is better on the V1. I would not expect an R7 to last 15 years. Read of issues with the OLED screen failing/burning in after just 1-2 years, and generally not doing super well in hot parked cars. |

I use a Passport 360C MKII w/h their Dashcam for several years, and I think that it's great. It is the best probably not, but it has served me well.
