Looking for a New exhaust ... Which One ?

Hi guys
I'm New in the game with an f80 I have the stock exhaust but I would like to add more sound
I have a set of DP coming soon but i'm looking for a full catback !
I like the MPE one but didn't find any for sale at a reasonable price
Can you suggest me any other brand that will match the MPE Sound ?

Thank you

Please try your new downpipes before making other decisions. De-cat DPs add a lot.

The only one that produces the same sound as MPE is akropovic.

I have MPE with catless DP are you sure you want it? It's not for everyone.

It's not only loud, but it has a chainsaw, metallic, raspy, high pitched tone to it when not warmed up. Most people aren't fond of that sound.

If you do warm it up it in my opinion has a very race car motorsport like tone, it sounds exotic in my opinion, but to get it warm you really need to be at the cutting knives edge.

Just a few things to think about.

Resonated equal length midpipe with REMUS axle-back sounds the best.

This is a really good setup for customers looking for an aggressive sound.

Still works with catless, just a lot more aggressive

I prefer the catted sound, its got a deeper tone in the midrange and does not get raspy or too loud at high RPM

Mike, have you heard the Remark exhaust in person? I've made a post on here before about it, but I'm hesitant to pull the trigger since there are no reviews and barely any sound clips. Just curious if you've dealt with them in the past or heard any customer's thoughts about them. Thanks.

I think it does not hurt to start with catless down pipes first and see how you like the sound. Then consider a mid pipe and last a axle back like Remus. Just my thoughts but I will agree with Mike X-PH on his thoughts as the cleanest sounding set up.

id suggest you do the following.

go on youtube.
open up a highquality video (in its own window) of EACH of the exhausts you are interested in.
play each one back to back and compare them with your eyes closed. keep closing windows for exhausts you dont like as much as the other. Then you'll be left with the one you like.

i did this a while back and Remus and Corsa were the two best sounding ones (to me). With that said, it wasnt a night and day difference to justify locking several thousands of dollars into a bunch of stainless. Some were just louder but very few of them really "improved" the sound.

just my two cents.

I just did the YouTube exhaust comparo

Meisterschaft stood out. I had it on my e92 M3 and it was really loud. I’d probably do the GTC. If I’m not going to tune or replace the cats, should I just do axle back?

The other that I liked the sound was Milltek. Have not heard of them before. I see they have race and sport. Unsure which I heard.

Equal Length midpipes are overrated.
I’ve tried multiple exhaust setups and by far my favorite is:
1. Stock Downpipes
2. AA single midpipe
3. Akrapovic rear section

Also alternatively, Dinan rear section also sounds great with a single AA midpipe.
