CA requires plates as well so I got the Sto N Sho kit from here:
http://shop.bigmikesperformanceparts...4-M3-SNS67.htm

Awesome product!

Note: I did not drill and instead used 3M automotive tape. I also don't mount the plate, but keep it in the trunk ready to "fix it" if I do get cited. Hasn't happened yet.

I concur. Sto N Sho is the easiest when it comes to mounting and removing; it literally takes 1 second.

My review on it.

My short Youtube video showing it in action.

So no drilling? What did you need the automotive tapes for?

The F80 version comes with 3M tape and a single screw to hold the base in place. I recommend drilling IF you are going to run the car with the plate on all the time as the tape alone will not hold with road/wind forces. Instructions highly recommend using the screw. See exo-shell video in previous post to see what this looks like installed.

I don't run with the plate on and only mount the plate when I park the car in high "enforcement" areas. So far, no problems, but I should state that I am in San Francisco. Cops here have other issues to worry about, but parking enforcement will site you. Especially since they started introducing back-in only street parking where all they can see is your nose.

Also, forgot to mention that I also removed the key ring from the pin that holds the plate (see video). I carry a small bent nail that I can use to release/install the plate. This makes for a cleaner look and harder for someone to steal your plate. Removal takes 5 seconds using this method.

Thanks! I really am not a big fan off the off-center location of the plate. The STO N SHOW will be what I will look into for now.

Hmmmm. I plan to keep the plates on all the time. Do you know if I will need to drill on my F82?

Yes, i recommend it. The single hole goes on the underside of the bumper so it is not visible if you decide to take off the the bracket.

Thanks! Do you know if any of this interferes with parking distance collision (PDC) or any other sensor electronics?

It does not as long as you position it in the center which is where the OEM mount would be.

I ended up ordering the STO N SHOW mount. I am still nervous about having to drill into my bumper, so any tips / advice will help!

Ohio requires front plates too. I suggest using your imagination like I do. I concentrate, to a very high degree, that I do indeed have my plate installed. I thought about it to the point I believe the plate is installed when in fact it really is not.

Clean the surface well. Tape a long strip of painters tape down the middle of the bumper to optically line up the license plate. Mount the Sto N Sho with the double-side tape that is provided; no screwing yet. After the plate is lined up to your satisfaction, screw in the provided screw. Easy as pie.

I've been happy with my Sto N Sho plate mount as well. Very easy to take off when I want to/wash the car.

I used a smaller profile trim screw instead of the bolt that comes with the kit to install mine;

I got the USmillworks, lightened, with quick release and it's totally worth it. craftsmanship is top notch and it US made. highly recommended.
http://www.usmillworks.com/

This is what mine looks like on, it comes off quick and you can orientate it to not obstruct PDC. but i'm poor, so no PDC so for me.
