Resonated midpipe?

Not very savvy with exhaust systems but is it possible to add a resonator to a mid pipe like the vsrf or AA single pipe.

If possible has anyone done it? How does it sound? Is it restricting at all?

If you added a resonator, you would need an oval one. If you did find one, it would cause the exhaust to hang too low as the single mid pipe already hangs lower than stock.

You can always add them to each pipe after the single splits off. Same effect accomplished, with the benefit of the single merge tone.

Per Active, you cannot add resonators to the single midpipe. There is not enough space.

I have an extensive fabrication background and placed a resonator in the 3.5 midpipe, it helped clean up the sound!! As long as you know what you are doing you can make it fit perfectly so it has ample clearance.

Good work man! You have any soundclips? I'd love to hear if you do.

I added resonators after my AA Single Midpipe and it improved the sound a lot! I also have VRSF DP's for reference.

I’m calling it here. This is the best sounding S55 set-up that’s not a single turbo and sounds better than some EQ length options too, nice work

You sir are a gentleman and scholar. I assume adding the resonators to section where the hangars are mounted helps with clearance? I’m going to see if I can get a local shop to replicate this for me. I honestly wasn’t impressed with the EL sound from any of the manufactures, and this sounds much better. Thanks!

The spot I located the resonators was the best place my fabricator and I saw; I think it would be fine to be earlier but the closer the resonators are to the rear the better imo for rasp reduction. Glad you like it sir

Mate, thank you so much.

I was running with decat downpipes and single mid pipe with mpe back box and I seriously hated my car lately especially in low rpms. Car was sounding like a tractor and all embrassing sounds in low rpms. Also was stupidly loud.

Firstly i swapped my downpipes to arm resonated ones, they did help a bit but not much. After listening your exhaust i decided to put these two into my car and the result is amazing.

I have never thought that this car can sound like this, shocking results I would say. Right now I have 4 resonators ( 2 in downpipe, 2 in mid pipe like yours) and as opposed to before, I now love low rpms. Car just growls, no rasp, no tin sound, no weird tractor sound, nothing. It feels like a sports car again. I honestly did not expect such a difference. Even the startup sound is way more growly now. I would say car sounds more like v8. It also added a bit of a natural burble, very very small amounts.

so my current setup if anyone curious: Mpe back box, resonated single mid pipe, resonated downpipes. Even cold start low rpm valves fully open does not sound embrassing.

Edit: The drone added after MPE is also gone. No more weird sounds to be honest

Thanks again for the suggestion.

that sounds great! I'm gonna do the same on my F80. Do you have any clips of fly-bys?

Your setup should be loud / raspy but sounds so clean! That's awesome.

Yeah definitely no rasp and I'm happy with the noise level; not too loud imo.
