How do I program the integrated garage door opener?
Hi all. Took delivery of my mineral grey m4 today. Absolutely love it. I'm just starting to set up everything to my preferences, BUT I'm having trouble with one thing. Can anybody help me with the programming of the garage door buttons. I can't get the procedure started with the blinking led light. I'm following the instructions but I get no blinking led response whatsoever, and therefore can't continue on with the programming. I know its got to be something simple I'm missing. Any help from board would be great. And again, the car blows me away...

Congrats on the car! Love MG M4
As for the buttons, I understood the same... Hold, wait for flash, then scan, then commit. But honestly, I don't remember for sure. He was talking, I wasn't really listening, car was sexy as hell... Yeah. Well congrats on the car and good luck figuring it out

Make sure you have the power on to the car. (Sorry missed you had car on the first time I read your post). Garage door openers don't work if car is off.
To program mine I needed to use the portable remote to train the button before it would recognize the garage door unit. So a multi step process. Last edited by dave885; 08-11-2014 at 07:44 PM.. Reason: Reread OP post |

OP didn't get to the point when garage opener is involved... Remembering my LR experience, you have to hold it looong enough to get to the blinking point. Also, look to reset procedure and try to reset it first, then hold 1 & 3.

I think the instruction says to hold the 2 outside button for 20 secs. It worked for me.

Thanks for the input everybody. I'll screw around with it some more today and then stop in dealer if necessary. If I get to the bottom of it I will post. Garage door opener or not, I plan on driving all day today. Love the car. Love the seats- unbelievably comfy compared to my outgoing audi.

I've followed the instructions. Not getting any led light response at all. Compass is working, but the garage door buttons appear to be dead. But I'll keep fiddling with it and see if I have any luck..

If you're brave, open it up and see if it's disconnected. If you want to take it in, take it in. Something sounds wrong, though.
I typically fix things like that myself since the time to/from the dealer can be three or more hours vs 30 minutes to take a look myself. |

No LED of any kind regardless of what you do means that there is no power in your OEM Homelink. That is a warranty visit. It sounds obvious but it is not. |

This does not sound correct. I know some newer garage doors don't work with older cars homelink, but not the other way around, and this is easily rectified w/ an adapter. If yours really don't work, unless it's some oddball no-name garage door opener, it should be a simple fix w/ an adapter. If it's liftmaster/chamberlain, I'm certain it either works now or is easily upgradeable. |

I can confirm this also. Not per se to BMW but we just bought another brand in early '14 and it won't work with our current garage door opener. Yeah it sucks but they do give you those little car remotes, best look where you put yours back in the day.
