I'm interested in the Blackvue, does anyone know if they have their own hardware kit tapping into wires on dome light or something like the invisicord for radars? I don't want to do the fuse box route

If you want to use the parking mode by motion detection, you have to hardwire your device. You can also refer to this video for how to hardwire on F30/F80 platform. Just my 2 cents for fellow M owners.

Good to see your post here. I indeed saw a couple of videos you posted on youtube while I tried to figure out installing my blackvue. It was so helpful!

I went with the fuse box hardwire for my blackvue dr650-2ch with Power Magic Pro. Used the fuse 100 for +BATT, 162 for +ACC. Working fine so far over 2 hours parking.

Just purchased the blackvue from Blackboxmycar.com

I'll report back after using it and testing it out.

Sadly not perfectly..
After leaving the car over a day with recording in parking mode, I got the battery drainage alert when I started the engine this morning. Also the Comfort Access was not working. Maybe the same battery drainage issue.

Got my Blackvue today. Bigger than I expected so I am not sure how it will look mounted up on the windshield. I'll post pics when it's mounted.

My kinda thread... I figured I'd need to start doing some serious research while I'm still here in Korea as nearly every car has one of these. Hell, insurance companies here provide discounts for having them.

So what is the verdict? What is the best, smallest dash cam to buy for the M4? After what happened to my car, I need one! I am constantly concerned with Valet, service guys, etc taking my car for a joy ride, plus someone slammed their door into mine and left a giant door ding that I went through insurance on...$1200 to fix it. Any thoughts?

A quick and brief review. Sorry no pictures yet.

The blackvue is big. I actually mounted it so the bulkiness is hidden behind the rear-view mirror but more towards the driver's side. I am still playing with the settings. I can't see that its there if I sit in either passenger or drivers seats. It does become obvious there is an additional camera mounted if you are standing outside the car and look at it for awhile.

Because I mounted it the way I did, the camera thinks its upside down, so now I have to figure out how to flip the image around.

Picture is great. App is somewhat rudimentary. Instructions are a little lacking as well.
I am still trying to figure out how to optimize all the features. I'll be going through a lot of youtube videos shortly to see what I can do to make the best use of my blackvue.

Install was quick and easy though.

Viciouz, just follow the DIY for installing a radar detector in the DIY section. Pretty much the same process.

Figured I'd add a bit to this. I'm looking at 2 channel systems so I can have a rear facing cam also. I want all the reg. features that the good cams have along along with being picky about image quality. I DO NOT want GPS as I would hate to have my speed work against me.

I'm currently looking at the X2 and a few of the blackvue cams. leaning towards blackvue bc the X2 has a screen which I want to avoid if possible and also because it seems to be the popular choice which would make it easier to get help down the line.

For those not looking at a 2 channel system, check out DOD. great image quality both day and night.

heyhey don't worry about the battery discharge sign. BMWs are quite sensitive to battery usage and this message somewhat scares people, but nothing will happen. More than half of my customers are BMW owners and I have E92 M3 and F10 528 myself. Both of my cars are hardwired and equipped with many dashcams. I see this message every morning, but if you don't want to see this discharge message, just pull your dashcam power plug when your vehicle is parked overnight. You won't see the battery discharge sign in the morning.

As for the comfort access issue, can you try using different fuses perhaps? Also, how did you route your coaxial cable? Signals from coaxial cable might be interfering with your comfort access feature.

2 channel system is quite complicated and coaxial cable plays a very big role. Some of poorly designed 2 channel dashcam will block your GPS and radio signals. With that being said, BlackVue's coaxial cable is well designed and has proven to be solid. I hope this helps!

Guys if you arent looking for a parking mode camera, keep it simple with a Mini 0801/0803/0805

$60-$90, full HD, smallest foot print. Plus if anything happens to the camera, it wont break the bank buying another. There are some knock offs and shady vendors on ebay but i have had good luck with cameras from Foxoffer.

I saw that on a youtube comparo with the $300+ panorama x2 I'm looking at. Picture was amazing. I'm looking into 2 of those as another option.
