12.3" touch screen

Who makes a good one that works for the f80?

I thought BMW made a 12.3” touchscreen that’s fitted on their new models? No?

The F80 series has different older equipment that isn’t compatible. Best you can do is a F series 10.3”

I put this unit in my 2016 M3 and it looks and works pretty good. Of course it's an android unit so it has some software issues.

Do you think it’s TOO big? Do you loose a substantial part of the field of view?

10.3 is the largest and it’s not a simple retrofit as lots of dash cutting. Not something you can revert back to the old screen.

Have you done it? I haven’t heard anyone say that

Looked into it but was not keen on cutting and bodging it.

TLG has done this and there is a video on the process.

Unless you want to damage your dash not worth it. Link below.

Tbh doesn’t seem too hard to me. But I could be wrong. I ordered one (10.3”) I’ll report back when I get it in a few weeks

The process has been refined throughout the years. The most recent guide I've seen shows you where to minimally cut your dash and has a printable template to cut the plastic of the back of the screen so it fits better and is reversible without any damage to your dash showing if you revert to the smaller OEM screen. Although the holes in the dash are bigger than OEM with no screen installed.

Some of the first retrofits I've seen did look pretty rough though lol.

I took the dash trim/vent trim off last night to see what’s what.

I stand by my “it doesn’t look too difficult” statement

I've had both a 10.3" and 12.3" screen installed. At first I thought the 12.3" was too big but it's the same size as the screen in our 22 X3 M40i. The OEM BMW side is a little stretched but still looks good. Android Auto and Waze/Spotify looks awesome. In the F80, my view is not blocked, except for part of the hood.

Which manufacturer did you buy from? Seems like there are endless options that all look the same and not allot of solid info on quality…

You had a 12.3 in your F8X?
