Creaking window/door seals been an issue since at least the E39 days, and it is mostly just on cars with Shadowline window trim. Gave up trying to fix it on the E90 so I just had to have the windows rolled down just a few millimetres and this would get rid of half of the creaking.

My F80 doesn't have Shadowline (weirdly, an option in Germany on M3s), just the base matte trim, and it is dead quiet. E90 LCI had better materials in the cabin, but it was put together worse than the F80 LCI, imho. I think the E90 was a Friday build, though.

Hence we still have creaking door seals and BMW badges that deteriorate within a couple years, etc. What do you mean your Roundel disintegrates in two winters? Your highway maintenance must be using the wrong, non-OEM BMW kind of road salt!
Will you post a pic of your car? You've piqued my interest in the base trim.
The rubber trim on the bottom of the window is prone to stains and I can't get rid of them, so that's annoying.

I like that! Never knew if was available. Much easier to avoid hazing on the pillar pieces.
F80 had very different base specs in every country. German cars had Adaptive LEDs as standard, but this was an option. Pretty weird. Oh and we didn't get carbon fibre or aluminium either, the standard trim was Blue Shadow plastic. Changed that out to the M3 aluminium trim last year.

As said above

I think the alu trim was pretty rare too. You can see the blue shadow trim on the door pull, it's literally just grey plastic. Sourcing 2nd hand merino leather door handles is hard and they're too expensive

I also specifically got the F30 M Performance e-brake and shifter as it's got the white stitch and open/dry carbon fibre to match the seats as opposed to the M3 M Tri-stitch and gloss CF, though the trim on the steering wheel does also match the cloth seats just fine

It's all in the details

Why would BMW enter F1 when they're only half serious at best about making sports cars?

6MT, aluminum trim and cloth! Hot damn this was the combo I wanted back in the E46 days!

That matches very well, I've just never seen that in any other F8X.

Sorry to bring back the main topic of the thread but... is anyone starting to like the M3/M4 now?

The Aluminum trim is what we got standard in Canada, so it is quite more common up here. We had to pay $500 to get the CF or wood trims whereas the US got the CF trim standard. I believe the Alu trim was also an option in the EU, so folks needed to choose between CF, wood or Alu when upgrading from the base trim.

I'm still not fond of it. My student at the last HPDE event I attended was driving a G80. While I did not drive the car, I still got to experience it on track from the passenger seat. First of, the S58 does not sound any better than the S55 but has louder pops and burbles, but it pulls very solidly with impressive accelerstion. The 8AT is quite dissapointing, where you really feel the power reduction on upshifts and I find it has too many closely spaced ratios for our track. The chassis has excellent dynamics but you do feel the heft. The car had the regular seats, which simply do not offer adequate support for track driving (much less support than the F8x seats), for those than plan to head to the track, the CF buckets are a must.
