Eighteen months ago I crashed at Monza and totalled my ‘15 M3. Last week I ventured back onto a track again and took it easy. Confidence under braking was a big issue for me. The stock brakes were resonating pretty loudly and I knew they didn’t like it. I have a plan for that.

Pucker moment at 8:45 for those who are interested!

Glad to see you are back on the track being cautious! What are you plans for brakes?

I’m picking up a set of Essex Radi-Cal BBKs from Clark at Apex Performance. I’m just doing the fronts for now since the rear brakes don’t do much as it is. I’m going to try to approach the braking upgrades as scientifically as possible by monitoring temperatures and checking the effectiveness of the front cooling package before deciding on which brake pads to run. I had previously used the Revozport front scoops, so I’m giving them another try.

I need to acquire a sensor setup that can record all four brake temperatures at once, but I have lots of time to tinker with it over the winter.

Glad to see you back, you’ll be happy with the Essex AP gear.

I see you are getting a few laps out of ASE before they shut it down for ever.

What times were you getting?

Yeah the pictures above are from the last lapping night there.

Best I got was just under 1m some weeks ago but most of the time track is busy and hard to get clean laps

I'm using BS tires for practice (Indy 500 -325/30 R 285/30F in19") ~85% of the stock MPSS grip but last forever
Next season I'll use proper tires but wanted to get a good feel for the car

Also ever since I installed the ground control kit - springs and top plates, I have to relearn the car a bit

I wanna break 1:50 at icar on these shitty tires and wanted to break 1m at ASE which I managed to do.
(You may have to click on the picture on mobile to see all of it- using RaceChrono)

Last weekend at Misano-Adriatico. No Monza this weekend due to rain, so we'll try again next weekend.
