I agree with your statements. For me, the swap is from the JGC Summit to the S4. This now creates somewhat of an overlap with the M4. While not on the same performance level, it affords me the opportunity to go with a dedicated sports car. I prefer to have an AWD vehicle for the winter. Otherwise I would've considered an M3 as my DD. If only Audi would import the RS4 (sedan or wagon) vs. only the RS5.

I have two other cars I can use as daily driver so I'm not pressed for backseats or a trunk anymore. I currently have my eyes on a Porsche 997.2 Turbo or a 991.2 GTS. Both sound very tempting.

Agreed - the F80 is about as big as I would care to go. Perhaps BMW will make an M2 GC next time around?

My short list includes...
GT350 Mustang GT with a few aftermarket upgrades Audi TTRS Corvette Grandsport All 4 (all things considering) are pretty close in price, so it will depend on the deal I can get.

It's a great car but it's lacking in the sound department and has noticeable turbo lag. Technology is a bit behind the Germans also. Besides those things, it was the best sports car I've owned so far.

WRX so I can be more Asian. (okay not really) Maybe a VW GTI/R depending on current pricing. Maybe a hot hatch...
I just want a car to beat around.

Next car? There are a few options in 2019:
1. BMW M8 (depends on how they carry over the looks of the concept to the 8 series) 2. AMG GTR 3. Porsche 911 GTS

I plan on keeping my F83 as it is my weekend car. I have a Mercedes SUV as my daily. I'm waiting for the X3M and the GLC63 to be released as I think either of those would fill my DD needs quite well.

I'm about a year away from looking to replace my 2015 M4 in earnest. I bought a 2016 991.1 GTS last year. Its a fantastic car with an engine note to die for and pushes all my sports car buttons in the just the right way. I'm probably going to hang on to it for a long, long time. With that in mind I'm probably looking at a slightly more practical fast 4 door to replace the M4. I don't want an M3 because I've already owned the M4 for 4 years at that point and would like to try something different. My options are probably the E63 AMG S, the F90 M5 and the Audi RS7. I really want to give the Giulia QF a shot but something about FCA's reputation for terrible quality and customer service will likely drive me from considering one seriously. Anything I'm missing here?

Upgrade Paths
Just curious, what do most of you all here plan to upgrade to after the F8X?
I just got my M4 a few months ago, and I'm lovin it! All around package. However, I always try to set myself a goal to obtain in the future and I'm aiming for the Porsche 718 GT4 or some high end 718 Cayman. |

I'm not really interested in spending much more or going with a true 2 seater, so it will be more about looking at alternatives in a similar (or lower) cost range, another F80/F82//F83 or buying out my M4 when my lease ends next summer.

I'll probably stick with the M3 family. 911/718 aren't really practical for daily use.
Or I've also considered toning down the daily and getting a faster track car, like a 911 or GT350. We'll see. |
