I'm not putting a deposit on F80 M3 or Camaro Z/28 until I see details on the C7 Z06, the rumored new mustang that is smaller / lighter than today and equipped with 600hp V8 and 2015 C63.

Either way, can't go wrong.

It is a great time to be a car enthusiast

Saw the Z/28 at last year's NY auto show and really liked it--the idea behind it, the looks, the track-focused nature, the 305/30-19 square setup (!). But after tracking my E90 M3 for three years now, I'm keenly aware of the price of expendables. Two sets of R-comp tires per season, at $1200 a set. At least two sets of front and one set of rear Pagid pads at $400/pr front and $300/pr rear. A new set of front StopTech rotors for every 3-4 sets of front pads: $750.

So for the Z/28, which is even faster than my M3, and weighs 200lbs more, and uses monster-sized tires ($), I can only imagine what the running costs would be for regular track use. Why couldn't they have made this car 3300lbs, like the new M4?

I'm beginning to understand why people run Spec Miatas...
