'16 M3 6MT vs '15 Stingray 7MT 50-160 pulls

My buddy and I were having some fun on the autobahn on the way to the Ring this morning. He and I had several highway pulls. The best one was coming out of a construction zone. We started at about 50mph and lasted until the governor kicked in at 160+mph. We were dead even the entire time, every race. It was very cool to see the M3 is exactly the same speed as the Vette :thump: He also said on the way home he had a similar race with a GT3 and they were dead even. Amazing how fast these cars are.

It really is incredible the performance you get for the price. Look back a couple of years and this is super car territory.

Imagine your car with a tune and some mods... you would've blown his chevy off the autobahn

Imagine that chevy with a blower kit that cost the same as some painted m3 engine covers. It would be on another planet. The ceiling is much higher on the vette with its 6.2L LS (technically LT) motor they have already hit over 1000whp on boost only.

Totally. Now imagine the Corvette with a "tune and some mods." Both will remain relatively close given an equal level of tune. An F8x with a JB4, downpipe, and E85/race-gas typically can go low-to-mid 11s at 125-126 MPH. Same for the Corvette with a tune and bolt-ons (perhaps a mild cam to trap 126+).

A bone stock M3 with a girl driving has done an 11.6 with a low 120's trap.

I'm pretty sure my m3 would wipe the floor with my 997gt3 on a highway run to at least 130mph, and as I've said before, my f80 hits the same speed as my c6z at big willow on the front straight. These cars are no joke and I haven't had the slightest itch to tune it for more power...yet

Both cars are stock. Yeah, it's nice we were tight on the highway. When we reached The Ring, though, that's where the evenness ended. I have 7 laps on the Ring, he has over 100. Lol.

Is this due to elevation or higher corner exit speed in the M3? The c6Z is a mid-120 trap speed car so shouldn't it destroy the M3 there?

Also the Stingray and M3 are both as quick as the 991 GT3 from a roll? That's pretty insane lol

Sounds about right. And bone stock base model C7s have gone 11.3-11.4 at as high as 123.

Thats why i wont buy a GT3 if I was going road race/daily drive it. Its a lot of fun on a track, and the engine sounds great.

But for road use, the turbo is the way to go. Cant have a non Z06 or M3 keeping up with me.

I'm only referencing my experience on the front straight of willow springs, but the c6z gearing is horrible after 130mph, and I'm sure elevation plays a part. It also helps that I'm much for confident getting on the gas earlier with the f80 out of turn 9

Ages ago, I ran my c6z vs my evolve tuned m6 smg and after 130 the m6 walks the z06. But any speed before that the z06 is running away.

i think a jb4 and a downpipe cost 10x less than a blower kit.

plus look at the interior of the vette it screams gm garbage and on top of that it looks like a hot wheels car from the toy store.

This is an easy thing to bring up to try to divert from an argument over performance. The problem is, it's just not true any longer.

The F8x and the C7 are both awesome cars. If I were trying to argue superiority of the F8x, however, performance per dollar (stock or modded) is not the approach I would take.

I kind of like the new Vette's interior. It has some incredible tech features- ones that we can't get.

LOL! My Russian friend, you seem to have a problem with the Corvette. Have you seen the interior of the M3/M4? You really think that is better then the new vette interior? You really think the new vette interior is garbage? The interior in your 135 is literally Fisher Price and Rubbermaid.

Well the corvette is a cheaper car. Its also a fast, nice V8 engine, and near exotic looks. its a blast to drive, and more people look at you.

I guess we can give BMW the win for better interior. I am sure the vette guys could careless. You may think they look like shit. fact is most people do not. and sales speak for them self.

Sorry guys. The corvette is a great car but the interior materials still need work. Then again the interior of their luxury cars aren't up to par so it's not surprising that the Corvette is he way it is.
