I know, you can also adjust speed sensitive vol in the GTR, but the M3 never seems to get it right. The sound system in both cars isn't brilliant, maybe slightly better in the GTR, but I think because it gets so noisy in the M3 you have to have it on quite loud and it starts to sound quite tinny. Thinking about it the sound in the M3 is a bit rank, especially from the rear speakers.

Hey Antiplod, so when you drive your m3, it feels like you are holding a pair of cucumbers? You know what, when i drive my m3, it feels like i am holding a pair of bananas :lol

Edit: On a serious note, after reading that statement, i stopped reading your post.

A 911 turbo is twice the price of a GTR isn't it? I think I'd rather spend the difference on a dedicated track day car - like another GTR.

New maybe, but in the used market, the price of the 911tt makes a lot of sense, specially considering these cars are very reliable and they make perfect daily drivers!

I don't know about that. As a gt3 owner, I would choose the gtr over the turbo for my needs

I think the new gtrs are about 110k now. So not twice as much. BUt the GTR is starting to creep up in price.
ALOT from when you think about the inital price point (I think they were 70-80USD back then).
So the performance is beginning to match the price.
Not so sure if thats a good thing.

I understand the next GTR edition is going to be 'revised' by Williams F1 - somehow I can't imagine that will make it any cheaper. I don't know whether it is just hearsay, but I believe the intention is to replace significant parts of the chassis with carbon fibre, so that will be expensive. So far, the GTR has had design input from Nissan (+Nismo), a bit by Renault Motor Sport, a lot by Lotus and now Williams - just need to have Red Bull give it a tweak and overhaul the warp drive.

Just picked up a Merc SL350AMG on loan - it's OK as a cruiser, but too many things I don't like about it. Not a patch on the GTR or M3.

I would just like to hear some insight from you guys who have considered either of these cars....what would you go for? Honestly power wise the GTR obviously wins, however, any wise words from fellow m3 members that will help me lean towards an m3?(Bias opinions also are cool) lol
The GT-R is not a bad option if you are on a budget and Prosche, or Ferrari like performance, BUT. ONLY. if you are going to lease one. I would say the say the same for a Z06 or even a Viper. The only time you should "Spend" five years paying on a car is if you are getting a rare specialty car that will hold it's value long term, AND attract future collectors like say Jay Leno, lol. In that case the Porsche GT3, Carerra, Any Ferrari, Lambo etc. is worth actually buying. A 2008 GT-R can now be had for around the mid 50 range.
I would look into an M3, M5 or 6 Series M with professional mods as well. They will blow your mind on the track. Either way, best of luck.

Wow! You tell people to only "buy" cars and spend 5 years paying for it "only" if it's rare and will hold its value??!! And yet you leased a GTR and bought an M3 and recommend people to "buy" M cars??!! Correct me if I'm wrong, but when did M cars reach exotic status? And find me an M car that really held its value and is a "rare" collectible. It's certainly not your E92 M3! Get your facts straight, a GTR is a much more "rare" car and is much closer to being a collectible than the E9X M3's. Your credibility is non-existent at this point. I would suggest you stop making recommendations because you clearly don't have a clue what you are talking about.

You are bringing nothing new to the table. Do a search and you will see all your "yawn" arguments and hatred for the GTR have been brought up before. Come up with something original and then he will respond.

M3 and GTR comparison is ludicrous. GTR is $35k more, a coupe, all wheel drive, a super computer on wheels, Japanese and a super car - confused.

Personally I love the looks of the GTR, but it's all computers, a V6 which can be found in an Altima, Accord, Camry KIA. Inline 6 is unique.

I think you should go with the GTR

Yes I yet to see a camry motor or accord motor built by hand. All totally different motors.

Disagree. V6 motors are not balanced like a boxer or inline motors. I just don't get why Nissan went with a V6 when they could have stuck with their inline 6 or maybe a v8.

Yet Nissan made a motor that's v6tt that's more powerful than a v8tt ? You have to admit Nissan did something write. Just because it's bigger doesn't mean it's better. I am a fan of the inline 6 but love the rumble of a v8

The next GT-R will use a KERS technology like Formula 1. Hence the Williams involvement.

The new GT-R is several years away, people holding their breath for the new model are going to be disappointed.

the 911tt SUCKS as a DD. I know this from personal experience. Its a disaster IMO to own a 911 as an only car. Way too small, and way too much car for public roads

JMO. a new m3 makes far more sense for equal or less money, and will be just as fast if not faster.
