Yes mate. Great app. Highly recommend it.

Only thing I would recommend is put the phone into WiFi only made so you don't get a call halfway through.

What OBD dongle is everyone using? I've been looking at the Vgate iCar Pro Bluetooth 4.0.

https://www.amazon.com.au/Vgate-Blue...+Bluetooth+4.0

Also, can the GTS code changes be done through Bimmercode or is specialised coding required?

That sounds a bit naff but still pretty cool.

What other advanced options are people doing?

Not at all, many luxury and sports cars do this with seats and steering wheels

Makes getting in and out much easier

Thanks domino_z . Have you had many issues with error codes? Do you usually get them with basic coding or is it a matter of happening when you make a mistake in doing the code changes?

My dongle just arrived so I'll get to coding in the coming days.

I'll be changing:

* Legal disclaimer remove
* Auto start/stop remember last selection
* Door lights on when reversing
* Heated seat temperatures down 5C across the board
* Mirrors fold on CA locking (delay to zero)

I would also enable messages in motion , which lets you read or have text messages by read to you whilst car is moving .

Other coding options to consider , rear camera zoom , audible chirp on lock / unlock

Thanks for the suggestions.

The car already reads messages to me while the car is moving, so I'm happy with that for the moment.

What advantage does the zoomed rear view provide? I only ever use the top down view anyway, so it may not be a benefit to me.

The chirping makes sense although the car makes a decent "chunk" noise when locking, so it may be something I turn on and switch off later (plus I go to work early most days and I don't want to wake up the house with beep beeps).

How'd you go with all of this - simple, straight forward? Any issues...?

Thought I'd ask before ordering an OBD adapter for my iPhone.

Cheers,
Ed

I'll let you know once I get a chance to have a play. I've watched plenty of YouTube videos on it and read everything I can before getting neck deep, and it all seems fairly straight forward.

When you go to buy your OBD dongle, Amazon Australia has them at comparable prices to elsewhere. Mine was just under $40 and arrived in two days.

I thought I'd tempt fate this morning and do the coding in the fifteen minutes I had spare before leaving for work (both from a time perspective and the potential to brick the car if it goes completely haywire).

Well, all I can say is that my fears were completely unfounded. The hardest part was getting the phone to pair with the dongle. After that, it's pretty darn simple. Just go through the modules you want to alter and select the changes. Then hit code and the app does its magic. A fair whirs and groans later, the ECU restarts, a couple error messages pop up on the screen (which are easily cleared via the app if you are on Android - you need a separate app on iOS) and the car is ready to go.

One suggestion I will make is to write a list and which module they are under. You can do this by having a practice run in the Demo mode of the app. The list will help you breeze through without having to faff about finding things.

The only issue I had, and this has been well documented so wasn't a surprise, is that you lose your radio presets and equaliser settings. Putting the eight presets back in took about two minutes as I knew exactly what went where, and I had taken a photo of my equaliser settings a little while back when playing with the sound, so that won't take more than five minutes to put back in place.

Overall everything went as planned and I left for work bang on time. The changes have stuck and the car is as I would like it to have been from factory.

Thanks mate - glad it was a success! Your feedback is helpful - cheers
