I prefer detail, so, you get the feeling the car has a fluid desire to complete what you're thinking. You can't drive this car without smiling.
Clutch, throttle and shifter modulation work perfectly in concert. Drove a Carrera S back to back, very nice, more power, but didn't have the extraordinary flow, of the Cayman S. |

I was on the fence between Cayman GTS and M4, and opted for the M4.
Not sure I have the most logical reasons, they both appear to be amazing cars and I've been researching both for a month... Shallow though it may be, I chose the M4 primarily due to styling and power. New Cayman looks great, but still not as "mean" as the M4. And I already have a light, nimble, fun 6 speed sports car that I use for work (Scion FR-S--don't knock it unless you've driven one!) I like to track my cars, and I think it will be fun to have a car as fast and capable as the M4 (I ordered it with the Carbon Ceramic brake package). I'd love to hear from anyone who has driven both Porsche Cayman GTS and M3/M4 to see what they thought of each.

I was first on list to get the GTS at my dealership being a long time customer, and I have obviously not driven the M3/4, but I am sticking with the M platform. For someone who never had a Porsche before the GTS is a great choice IMHO, and for someone who hasn't had an M before (me) I think the M3/4 is a great choice

Love the Porsches...driven a 981 Cayman S and everything was beautiful. The feel of the gearbox, the clutch, the nimbleness of the car....a true sports car. Acceleration wise you don't get the snap in the head feel of a V8 C63 or from a high boost turbo engine. Overall I would say it's a great car and heaps of fun for people who track a lot.
I personally would wait for the GT4 or 2.5 turbo version to come out though. |

With regards performance, I had a Gen 1 Cayman S and then an e92 M3. I think 340bhp @ 1350kg is more than enough on the street, especially in a sports car of this type. If you compare the power to weight ratio of the GTS with an e92 M3 across its rev range it's higher from 1500 to 7500 rpm, so it's not going to be slow. Also, a naturally aspirated flat 6 at 8000 rpm is far more appealing than the F.I. inline 6 of the M4. Manual, short shifter, buckets, PTV and I'm ready to track it. GTS did a 7:53 at the ring and should hit 100mph in around 10s dead, so I won't have any worries about it not being fast enough. |

Nice review but repost.
This review was linked in the 'M4 vs. Cayman GTS' thread so a quasi-repost I suppose. Last edited by Rambler; 06-09-2014 at 03:25 PM.. |

Ultimately I think I went with the M4 because I think it looks better and has nearly 100hp on the Cayman GTS, plus more torque at lower rpm. I live in the Rockies, and turbos do a great job of offsetting altitude power loss.
