User Profile for Track setup
Maybe some of you are already doing this, but I discovered something today thanks to fourtailpipes. Every time I headed to the track, I had to change multiple things on the "iDrive" setup of my car and then change everything back when the track day was over.
I came to realize that I had a third user profile that was unused and that I could use it to configure my track setup. So this is what I did: Profile-1 is my Street setup, profile-2 is my Wife's setup and profile-3 is my Track setup (I actually named them that way). In my track profile, M1 is my wet-track setting and M2 is my dry-track setting. Street <-> Track profiles:
I also changed the programmable buttons for more "track" oriented functions (Street <-> Track):
This rocks

glad i could spread some love! the multifunction buttons really are amazing, and using them to toggle profiles opens up all kinds of possibilities.

I've been doing this on my e90 but just on my regular profile. Only have one M button setting but all it does it stiffen the steering. My throttle is on sport which I use everyday - don't want it to be different at the track. DSC OFF has to be pressed separately so...
But I use the 1-8 but again as standard, to include turn screen off, oil display. Cool there are more options on f8x though. |

Nice idea on using a profile for track.
I guess I am a keep it simple kind of guy / don't have as much to change since I have no hud and passive suspension. I also do not want AC OFF since it is very hot in the desert in socal (where the tracks are) I actually leave my M1 and M2 buttons the same and just change M2 to DSC OFF if it's a dry track M1=Efficient/Comfort/DSC ON/D1 (<- 320i mode / zzzzzz its 0600 on the way to work or 2330 on the way home....) M2=Sport+/Comfort/MDM/S2 |

A question and a suggestion:
- how do you make the programmable button change profiles? - for track driving, I've found that the best display is the Vehicle Info with TPMS data (tire pressure and temp). I've assigned it to a programmable button. The latter allows me to check that I'm still within operating range, and to see which side of the car I need to lean on more. Plus it's easy to read off just before pitting in, to make any pressure adjustments.

IIRC, user profiles are under Vehicle Settings. Quote:
I still have FTM programmed as one my selectable screens on my track setup, since I need to reset the FTM after changing to and from track wheels and when adjusting pressures multiple times during a track day. I usually have the ///M laptimer on screen when I am on track so I can easily turn it on and off. I plan to upgrade to a Gopro hero4 eventually. I will definitely have one of the buttons programmed for the Gopro integration then .

Indeed , I never figured out why when I switch from D1 to manual it goes to S2... And I agree it's a bit too much for "zzzzzzz" mode

For those that have not seen this. I love this feature. I am at my 6th track day of the season and find this so convenient to switch between street and track setups .

Thanks for sharing this, I've been using this idea since I started tracking the M4 and agree it's super convenient to switch to Track Profile and have everything set-up focused for driving on track (M1/2 set-ups, M Laptimer shortcut, Control Display off shortcut, etc.), also contains other basic things like shortcuts to track locations, seat positions, etc.

This will come very handy on my first ever track event next Monday I read in the manual that even the driver seat position and exterior windows are also stored. too bad our steering wheel adjustment isn't electric. It would have completed the picture!

I did all the settings but I was disappointed that there is no way to copy the existing profile, so I had to create a new one and configure everything from scratch... Unless there is a way and it escape me! And I hope there's a coding parameter to eliminate the warning on profile switch, albeit we are not switching that often...

I found this, so why can't we copy profiles, ... but nothing to get rid of the warning yet. It's probably going to be as elusive as the DSC off/MDM confirmation in the M button. Sorry!

Hi, can you explain why you switch off the AC in your track setting and have the M-laptimer assigned to a button? I found that if you ever start another app, you cannot use the button to switch back to the m-laptimer, you will have to bring it back to the foreground on the iPhone. Thanks!
