Whining high pitched jet engine sound while braking...

So I test drove another m4 and while braking you get this odd whining noise that can be heard through the cabin when windows are rolled up.

Is this normal? Sounds like a jet engine winding down. I though it was the engine but as I kept stop and go braking even at parking lot speeds I could hear it...

Anyone experience this?

Normal brakes not ceramic

If the noise you've described is the same as the following video (go to 6:15):

Then it's fine. Eventually it goes away.

Ive noticed it to sound like a loud fan.
Mostly present when in sport plus throttle setting. I think its the extra cooling on the radiators but goes away quite quickly after stopping at a light.
First i thought it was the turbos spinning down ( ball bearing turbos usually make this sound when spinning down).
If anyone knows what is causing this sound, id like to know..

Normal sound of a car with a high performance braking system using floating rotors. Enjoy it as it means your M car finally has some worthy brakes.

I noticed the same sound, and at 1100 miles it seems like its a lot more subtle now (or did I just get used to it?)

Curious to know what it is/was too. Is it really the brakes?

I just took delivery of my car and noticed the same sound right after leaving the dealership. Good to know that it eventually goes away.

I got this sound too...it's not the same as in the video. It only happens when I back up with the wheel turned and the car warmed up...I think it has something to do with the parking brake.
