I don't have a full (real?) M car, but I like to jump over from the F22 forums from time to time to time because sometimes y'all have interesting threads.

I live in Orange County and since purchasing my M240i, I've found more often than not any time I get the engine RPM over 3k, someone nearby takes it very personally and tries to race me.

Sometimes I just want to hear that straight 6 building and want to hear the exhaust on downshifts, I wish I could walkie talkie them to say leave me alone.

Keep in mind, not everyone wants to race you, some just appear that they do but are merely trying to be on their way..

Don't be delusional like this Mustang driver:

Star struck? Lol our cars aren't that special

This is the first time I understand every word in your post.

And I agree with you. I drive the same exact way

Having an Austin Yellow M4 seems to aggro everyone around me.

Before the F82 I had a silver Z4M Roadster and no one ever tried to race/tailgate/cut me off, but the M4 really attracts a lot more attention.

Personally I'm star struck every time I park and look back

There are the occasional "race me" people, mostly ignore them now. Recently I went by a Tesla at slightly higher speed than the limit because I had places to be and it was a nice day and dude just floored it and kept egging to race getting up on my side, like dude, leave me alone, I just have places to be and want to enjoy some exhaust note

What's actually happening is you're seeing someone in a 3 & 4 series either in a hurry or that's just the way they drive. I promise you that the majority of people driving other cars, even BMWs, do not notice you in an M3 or M4.

True, though I grew up a poor kid in the late 80s/early 90s and the only cars I had were the ones I built from junk yards parts, so we were always doing shit to make them faster.

I can tell you I'd challenge anyone on the road I saw with a presumably fast car (and I definitely knew what M cars were) - just for fun and to see

(a.) did they even have the balls to use their car (that how you think when you're a kid ... or at least how I thought ), and

(b.) would they beat me and if so how bad?

As for being "starstruck" (ha, ha, omg, really?? ) ... when you're a poor kid who built his own car you're not jealous of an M car, or at least I wasn't, because you think your car you built is way better and you're way better versus that rich dipshit who's probably never hit redline and even if he did he'd hit a wall.

or jump a curb.

I agree...

However; most car enthusiast know exactly what an M3 is!

This is still a popular pastime in Arizona.
Sometimes it's because they are interested in your car
Sometimes it's cause they hate everything your car represents to them, which to a degree is understandable
Sometimes none of that matters and they just want an excuse to get aggressive

Read every single post. While I understand that was a trite attempt at humor, I am from Arizona and don’t understand his reference. Who are “they?” What does my car “represent”

Too many inferences for this daft individual.

Unless they're being super aggressive and reckless, I just let them have fun while I laugh knowing I could put them in my rearview in a heartbeat

I usually let them be, up until a certain point where I duly proceed to unleash the fookin' fury.

while it may seem childish and i do attest to being some what of a child at heart, my M car is my weekend fun car and I'll use any excuse to floor it. so whether it's a mini van passing me in a hurry, another car enthusiast or just a Honda with a fart can, I'm giving GAPtisms.
